Emma Feedback Thread / Q&A

Seems Emma is having problems today. People on Pro have been downgraded to Amateur overnight.

Sorry, I didn’t see this.

I’m not normally one for Black Friday deals, but Emma Pro for £15 for the year was a nice touch, thanks @edo1493 :grinning:

You are welcome.

Don’t forget to checkout Cashback, you can make it back pretty quickly with the 2x feature.

Nice to see Smart Rules added to Emma. Thanks, @edo1493

They seem like a nice workaround for those manual accounts anyway.

I’ve been on the smart rules beta for a while. It’s a nice little feature for keeping track of savings accounts. Pro is much more attractive than a year ago too, imo

In the same week, we are adding:

  • Turbo Updates
  • Rolling Budgets
  • Smart Rules
  • Savings Targets

For free plan, we have also released Past Budgets and Previous Pay Periods.

However, I am more excited by this one: https://twitter.com/edoardomoreni/status/1375039113154416642

Emma (the app) is crowdfunding!

Just had a pre-release email saying it’s coming soon on Crowdcube. It also says it’s the first Emma crowdfund - I was sure there was one before, but memory is a funny thing.

I’m hoping for a full pitch deck - I’m interested, but backing off from any crowd funding that is more marketing than tailored for investors.

Hi guys,

ahead of our crowdfunding campaign, we are releasing our roadmap: Notion – The all-in-one workspace for your notes, tasks, wikis, and databases..

I thought it could be of interest to some of you.

Nothing will happen, they will enjoy the new features we are adding to Emma Plus (True Balance, Bill Reminders, Fraud Detection) and if they want they can upgrade to Emma Ultimate.

ahh so pro is becoming plus then? curious about what ultimate will cover.

Also RE: p2p payments, I deleted my yolt account after they kept trying to force me to get a card and do p2p as I had no interest in it and eventually they nerfed my ability to use the app unless I got the card. I had been evaluating both Emma and Yolt and then Yolt did that and it was over for them for me personally. I doubt your planning to do the same but I just thought I would mention it.

Plus, Pro, Ultimate.

Yes, we are not releasing a card anytime soon.

P2P payments live on top of open banking, we are just removing the Save Money tab.

Some really excellent things on here, Edo. Metaphorical hats off! Keen for explanation behind some of the roadmap items, too.

I’m very keen to take a look at the pitch deck when it’s out. I’ll be giving Emma another outing soon, too.

A couple of questions: have you thought about integration with APIs like Zoopla for house prices / net worth? And do you think you’re mostly done with open banking connections now? (There are a few niche ones that would really make me happy, but I understand that there smaller the customer base the less likely you are you ship it).

Also this is basically eating Monzo’s lunch. This isn’t a bad thing: the more competition the better! And Monzo would struggle to deliver on most of these, anyway.

These are mentioned right at the end of the Roadmap, putting more connections very far off. It’ll be interesting to see if further improvements to smart rules and manual accounts make adding more connections moot entirely.
