Don't Go, Prepaid Card

We know that the current accounts will be available to under 18 year olds (17 yo’s for sure ) so the main question there is how much younger..

I don’t see why they should need prepaid cards though. At the end of day, as long as they’re not being offered overdrafts, why shouldn’t they have access to the rest of the current account functionality?

Given these challenges, I would be astonished if a Monzo keeps / reintroduces the pre-paid cards for any application too -

Sorry Martyn - we won’t be keeping the prepaid card past the end of this year. It adds too much operational complexity for very little benefit and the program costs a lot to run. There’s absolutely nothing to stop you from treating the current account in the same way as a prepaid card though - ie, not having your salary paid into it, not having any direct debits, and transferring over money from another current account for spending.
