Disappointed in monzo Content insurance

Extremely disappointed with @Monzo and Sedgwick insurance. Made to wait 17 days for a video claim validation with no loan phone offered, only to be told after the call that I now have to mail the phone away for inspection. Unacceptable delays and zero support for customers who need their devices for daily life.

I told myself I didn’t need contents insurance but now that I’ve heard this, it makes me wonder how screwed I would have been if I took out the one Monzo offered.

The same as you would be right now, with no insurance, surely?

I wouldn’t dream of being uninsured. Unless you are wealthy and have the means to replace everything you own? If so, then fair enough.

Surely no less screwed than not having any?

I had cause to claim on contents cover (escape of water) and they dealt directly with my landlord and I didn’t hear back until they confirmed they had made the payment and case was closed. Saved me £440

In my opinion - if after 4 years of renting and not having a reason to claim on any contents insurnance, or any insurance at all - not due to means of being able to replace, but because I simply haven’t experienced something that would make me think I need it. Further, most contents insurance wouldn’t cover everything I own, not without a very hefty monthly bill that I simply can not afford to pay.

Nobody thinks they need insurance until they do

Either way, each to their own.

This is fair. I may, when my finances recover, consider adding an additional subscription, which would be contents insurance.

My claim wasn’t for my things, I left a tap running (while sick and delirious) and it leaked into flat below. I was covered under accidental damage and liability. £5.70 a month I pay seems like it was worth it to me!
