Coutts Chat

I understand that almost non of us have got Coutts. But I think they are an interesting Bank so chatting about them and laughing at the rich people could be nice.

I was looking at the Coutts Silk Card on Finder and saw that it offer Points on spending or are they called crowns???

Would truly rich people care about points on their spending? For example, I can’t imagine Elton John, or Richard Branson totting up their cashback.

You’d think… but there is a slight addiction to points that I have that is regardless of how much money I have. I’d still enjoy points even if rich.

Also you’d be surprised how frugal some rich folk are. In part every bit that can be invested is better for them in the long run.

I guess if the points are actually worth it and get them good rewards from Coutts then the points could be worth it for them.

Maybe get 1000 points and then you get a private jet flight or something

Exactly. You don’t get (or remain) rich by wasting money!

Nothing to do with it

Many decades ago I worked for a company that paid with cheques from Coutts.

I thought it would be cool to bank with the same bank as my employer.

I went up to their front door, the doorman let me in and I asked at the desk about opening an account.

The person behind the desk looked me up and down, sniffed, and said: “I don’t think so.”

Maybe wearing my greasy work overalls wasn’t exactly conveying the impression they were looking for. :joy:

Yes, they’re called Coutts Crowns.

If you hold the Coutts Silk Card, whether that be credit or charge (mine is a charge card) you then also earn Coutts Crowns on your debit card spend.

You can redeem the Coutts Crowns through the “Thank You From Coutts” scheme.

What can the crowns be exchanged for?

Various different benefits.

I often opt for the £1000 Harrods Gift Card.

However, the earning rate depends on your overall assets held with the Bank.

Hadn’t ever crossed my mind that Harrods would have gift cards

I dread to ask how much you need to spend to actually get enough crowns to get the Harrods Gift Card

290,000 Crowns to be able to redeem it, no clue how much monies that takes to acquire though

I think that you go with Coutts for the Service and the Banking Managers you get. Not just for a card design.

I assume that with you paying very very very high fees to be with Coutts you get a dedicated number to your Personal Banking Manager.

So would be very quick

Probably hard to really know how we’d use a service like Coutts without having the financial position to be eligible for it as it’s a whole different world to most of us. At that point you would need more from a bank. If someone has the money for Coutts they probably wouldn’t be using Monzling.

Well let’s ask.

@harrysj12341234 Besides Coutts do you have any other Current Accounts like Monzo or Lloyds?

Everyone has different earning rates depending on assets held with the bank.

The maximum you can earn is 1.5 crown per £1 spent either on debit or credit.

It’s easy to rack up points as you can earn on both credit and debit. I never fail to have a pool of points.
