I think a guaranteed way to get this thread closed is to turn it into a “people I don’t like on the Monzo forum” list.

I’d characterise the change on our side as ‘Monzo staff stepping up’ which is something we’ve been pushing for (on and off) for ages. It’s quite relaxing.

It’s a two way street though

Things have been a lot more relaxed, both on here and within CC, this last couple of weeks, but that relies on everyone to play their part, otherwise any stepping back or lighter touch or however one wants to put it could see things spiralling out of control

So far, so good (for the most part) since the restart. It is nice for it to be a sunny day and not to have to open the browser tab (or the “app” while I am out for a walk) with a slight hint of dread about what needs to be reined in!

Pre-forum-lockdown (specifically back on April 4th), there were 46,294 registered community users.
There are now 36,799

Were 9,495 accounts closed during the ‘downtime’?
That’s a large number, approximately 20% of accounts closed :eyes:

There are currently only 13 active ‘Anon________’ accounts - I’d expect there to be way more than that. So maybe a lot of Anon_______ accounts were deleted fully in the purge?

Mysterious :mag:

At least it gives us a better idea of why it took a week.

And why it was such a shitshow before :poop::sweat_smile::sob:

The great Monzo Snap :open_mouth:

Does that mean we’re the chosen ones because we survived?

My theory is that they just had a cleanout and removed accounts that haven’t been active for X years. Perhaps some sort of GDPR requirement for removing data that is no longer needed/used.

We automatically delete inactive accounts after 365 days. So while we didn’t actively do any kind of purge this time around, that probably sounds about right. (More noticeable given that folks couldn’t log in to become active again, and no new joiners to balance out the net increase/decrease).

Going to give this a bump since it has been almost a month now… (times files!)

Wondered how progress is going and if we’re any closer to seeing the exciting new changes being worked on?

You’re right @Ordog, time does fly!

For the past few weeks, I’ve been strengthening the line up for the AMAs with @danhughes up first but also arranging a schedule which will last us a few months. We’re going to have people throughout Monzo giving us some further insight on how we operate.

One of the other projects is a Community Library (name pending), where we can utilise the documents feature of the forum to have user created content. This will hopefully allow us to support new users even better who come to ask customer service queries but the Community Library can be open for more diverse content as well.

There’s also some more stuff but I don’t want to over promise and under deliver

You make a good point but coral crew doesn’t fit the bill for any of the regulars I’m Afraid. You all have your friend groups and favourite members so nothing will ever be impartial

Leave as it is or just have Monzo staff moderating in my opinion

You make a good point CC are going to be more productive if all members are active

I’ve got to be honest - I really appreciate the feedback that’s appeared in this Topic as it’s come in a constructive way and it’s the kind of approach I want to continue regarding any changes with the Community.

I’ve taken what has been said so far and I’ll feedback soon if it results in changes or not

Whilst i agree with the points around coral crew needing to be active id not like to take away from some of the more impartial voices on the forum by them then becoming coral crew and having to tread the impartial lines.

Happy for some coral crew to be lurkers and quietly managing but agree they shouldnt be not logging in for months or not posting for months.
