Collected Thoughts on Card Design (Part 2)

Was there a photo of a green visa infinite card posted a few days ago? Can’t seem to see it… Perhaps I imagined it :joy:

The “Camo” Visa Debit card from Australia’s Defence Bank. While it is essentially a cooperative financial institution for military personnel, any Australian citizen is eligible to open an account. It features a great design that clearly conveys the bank’s core mission.

Not everyday that a bank totally rebrands. Banistmo in Panama changed owners and rebranded - with new designs for all their cards.

I have some liking for Yonder, though will be downgrading to free plan once this trial ends in a few days to come.

It shows my rent payment greyed out as upcoming 1st September.

Assuming direct debits may do the same when they arrive.

My auto top up didn’t happen until 2pm today, which is fine, but would’ve been better if earlier in the day incase I had plans to go out etc.

I don’t trust their auto-top up for my Rent. So I have a standing order set up two full days before the rent payment is due just to be safe

I have auto for my weekly spend but a SO for my rent as Monzo will send it first thing.

I found the Wise auto top up to work like charm, based on Wise balance.
It was buggy first time I used it but now works as expected.

That’s…interesting

I don’t hate it. The bank logo could be slightly smaller and the nectar logo sized to match.

I’d imagine the conversation around branding went along the lines of…

“You know what’s a good chocolate bar, Caramac”

Are kids now given credit cards too?

On first glance I thought it was a greetings card :grimacing:

There are many sausages that would find this kind of design cute in China… I don’t know why.

You know, lots of them on forums use addresses of Chinese studying here to open bank accounts just so they can add Monzo to Apple Wallet. No other actual purpose for the account, I guess they might get some money sent to it through informal exchange and use it while abroad maybe?

I think one day investors are going to wake up to a big fine from FCA due to how easy it is to open an account.

It has a kawaii vibe (I know it’s Japanese concept:grin:), but what I’m really surprised, is the number of different banks in China

What will surprise you more is that you have to open a bank account at whatever bank your company uses. I hate it. I have an ICBC/Bank of China/Bank of Shanghai/Merchants Bank already.

Annoying, as I got one of them while studying (Bank of China), one of them because at the time it was one of the banks Wise could send to (Bank of Shanghai) and one of them because I heard they were easier for foreigners to deal with (and have a Pikachu debit card (Merchants Bank)).

Then my work told me in another city they’d be able to just let me use my Bank of China account, but because our Shanghai office payroll uses ICBC I’d need to open an account there.

Any trip to the bank takes at minimum an hour. Getting a credit card from ICBC took 2 hours and the Mastercard doesn’t even support Apple Pay. If I’d have selected the visa it would have done but no one thought it’d be useful to tell me about that.
