Teflon was right.
That is chef kiss. I love the HSBC cards. Just not a fan of the app.

I am a big fan of the cards, and the new app in beta testing is looking fairly promising, if you go onto the hsbc chat on this forum you might see some screen shots
Glad you pointed this out before I had to
Now for another foreign card, the base-tier Japan Airlines credit card. Not that special but I do like the cleaner look compared to the old design and how it looks for a nearly-free card.
And in Apple Pay:
Whatâs the blue symbol on the Apple Pay version?
QUICPay -
It is for contactless payments - based on the Suica and Pasmo transit cards used in Japan.
Yep, itâs necessary for some shops and vending machines that donât yet support EMV contactless. One quirk of the system that took some getting used to is that you have to hold the phone on the reader until the transaction is authorized.
Fun fact: despite being created by JCB, itâs network-agnostic. Hereâs QuICPay on a MasterCard, for instance:
This one is JALâs prepaid card, if you donât want a credit card. They decided this card needed to look a bit busier for some reason.
That is a very busy card design
As a concept it was heading in the right direction but was executed poorly.
Airmiles for the common folk! Not many cards can earn Avios without charging or having credit rating qualifications.
Bet thatâs accepted on all airplanes
Can we just marvel for a moment at how the LINK logo hasnât changed since its launch in the mid-80s:
So dated itâs coming back into fashion
I managed to reactivate my HSBC Hong Kong account out of dormancy - surprisingly they did not cancel my credit card despite close to a decade of inactivity.
New credit card was sent out via DHL, but debit cards are sent via regular post, so I am still waiting for those (yes, there are two debit cards).
Meanwhile in the UK we just get a while envelope with your name on.
Interestingly that looks like the World Elite Credit card in style, but the offers look like the standard purple one here.
My Zopa Bank card has arrived. Itâs a beauty and the quality is excellent.
Considering the premier business is much more profitable in Hong Kong, interchange fees are uncapped, and the obsession over âexclusiveâ credit cards in Asia, I think it could have come with a more substantial envelope.
HK doesnât have the Premier WE cardâonly the free Premier and a visa signature card.
Anyway - gonna do a new HSBC family photo once I get the new debit cards. I pulled the trigger on first direct as well since I am moving next autumn and itâs my last chance to complete the collection.
The front of the Zopa card is good but the reverse side looks like white labels stuck on. Having said that the reverse side isnât that important.
That Premier credit card seems to be WE, albeit without included benefits (apart from the usual WE car hire ones).
The card is branded World not World Elite - same deal as HSBC HKâs debit card and Chase UK debit. I guess Mastercard is just less strict about using the silver/shiny logo these days
