Haven’t seen one in years, they’re all dual branded now - but the network still exists, and there’s meant to be least cost routing by default, which would utilise the cheaper EFTPOS network over Visa/MC, where possible (not sure how that works in practice). When I had my ANZ debit card in Apple Pay I could select EFTPOS/Visa when paying, but not all cards do that.
Who needs more than this trio of cards?
Well, me, of course. Got tonnes of cards in the post at the minute, but these three are just great cards.
Monzo Business, Monzo Flex, and Monzo Perks, although you can’t really tell at a glance.
Are you the “Jo”? If so, welcome back. ![]()
I do like the Monzo Business card design. Shame that design isn’t used for the personal.
Yes, I am Jo ![]()
It’s nice to be back!
How is your card/account collection going? I seem to recall you had a few…
I still can’t work out who 8XE is ![]()
Is your Business card under a LTD or a Sold Trader?
I’m just a sole trader at the minute. Was a very easy application, and I was approved instantly.
I have a few clients who use Monzo Business as a LTD and let’s say very quickly they end up moving to one of the Big 4 Banks.
They are good for sole traders and small LTDs under 5 employees in my opinion. But any bigger I think the features are better using a big bank.
I personally don’t advise any clients to use Monzo Business but if they want to then I will work with them.
Yeah it definitely isn’t set up for big businesses. As even if you upgrade to team, you’re only getting 15? cards I think. Very restrictive indeed. For what I need though, Monzo is more than enough ![]()
Yeah upgrading to the Teams plan is good and does improve the experience. I just know that 15 cards for some business wont even cover the finance department ![]()
I have some clients who have 100+ cards issued across the company.
I was with Starling for my Ltd but now with NatWest.
For certain types of business, I’m sure Fintech is perfect though.
The big pull with NatWest Business is the inclusive FreeAgent. This along with free banking for 2 years when you switch. It was a difficult offer to ignore.
Natwest isnt a bad offering at all. That offer makes it even better.
I know that Metro Bank is offering a similar deal at the moment. 31 months free banking, no fees on transactions, no minimum balance and fee-free cash paid in and out up to £10K per month.
Ah - could it be somebody who had a first name followed by first letter of surname account with 4 letters?
Yes. Sadly, someone on the Monzo Discord (now closed) worked out which bank I was contracting for, and then e-mailed that bank screenshots of some comments I had made about the bank. This resulted in a rather serious meeting and my contract was almost terminated.
I’m now far less opinionated online, and I don’t post under my real name. ![]()
Back to the topic though. I think we need an updated photo of @jo’s card collection.
I will grab a photo this evening. I’ve been getting loads of cards in the post last week, so it should be a big photo.
I still can’t work it out ![]()
Some people are *****!
Sorry to hear that - something similar happened to me years ago when somebody who regularly trolled a mailing list that I was very active on emailed one of my posts to the MD of the organisation I was working for.
Also, welcome back, adult @jo ![]()
Thank you, I’m happy to be back and chatting to everyone.
I certainly won’t be rambling on about Monzo constantly this time. As the world is a whole lot bigger than Monzo.
