Collected Thoughts on Card Design (Part 2)

They did

I thought they would. You’d probably have to open a separate account to have a chance of being issued a Visa, like I did. This wasn’t the sole reason for opening a fresh account though, as my old one had a sort code for a branch in a different town about 20 miles away, which really bothered me (although I’m aware it doesn’t make a difference to using the account).

The new one has my local sort code, the same as my original NatWest account that I had when I opened my first bank account as a kid.

Yeah. Not worth the hard search. I’ll just keep using the Virtual card in Apple Pay.

LADY’s card :eyes:

Ahaha yeah it’s called the Lady’s card but men can apply - I have it as it has a particularly lucrative rewards earn rate at 4 miles per dollar on dining. Useful when I go over my earn cap on my other cards that earn 4 miles per dollar as well

Dual citizen?

Singapore doesn’t allow dual citizenship.

What happens if you apply for citizenship but you have a citizenship that’s impossible to give up?

Well usually in that case they are forced to make an exception. If they of course allow you to naturalise then they may require you to pledge to not use your other passport or something similar to that (this can’t really be enforced anyway). The only countries that I know of that don’t let you renounce your citizenship are Argentina and Iran, basically only a handful of countries around the world.

You can add Ireland. Whilst you can full in the form to relinquish it, it doesn’t really work as you can just apply for the passport later the same day. Or, if you were born in NI, you can just say you wish to be considered Irish.

How do you like Revolut ultra? Seeing it more often here, was thinking about singing up as well. What are the main perks that make up the high fee for you?

Yeah I like the Ultra product, main draw for me was the FT Premium subscription, I had metal previously but there are a few articles under the premium I wanted to read so did the upgrade as had an offer for reduced fee for set number of months and just stuck with it.

I also use NordVPN, Perplexity and headspace so it does make it worth it overall vs just getting FT subscription directly.

I put most of my day to day spending through it so 1 point per ÂŁ1 is quite good and if you want gift vouchers the redemption rate is better than Amex. But the points are just a nice to have extra for me and not my main reason for having ultra.

I haven’t used the insurances to date.

They charge extra for anything but the basic ones (except for the TeamGB/ParalympicsGB specials)

We have a bank in Panama that have an entire banking segment exclusively for women. It offers two points earning credit cards. Even x2 points on stuff like gyms, spas, and beauty salons

I believe that, in the modern world, this has been redefined as “inclusive”. Quite how, I’ll never know.

Does it come with a tiny allen key to put it together?

No but they do deliver it inside a massive cardboard box in a huge truck with a tail lift.
