… it’s always been generic, that’s by design so that it can be integrated alongside all the partners’ own branding. It’s not really changed all that much either, the blob changed shape in 2007 then they swapped purple on yellow for white on purple in 2019.
Yeah, but now the nectar yellow has gone, it’s no longer linked to a viscous ‘drip’ and with a boring typeface to add insult to injury. Looks like a brand in decline.
It’s effectively just Sainsbury’s Group’s loyalty scheme now, with ebay as a third party partner.
I liked their older logos but the bold purple pops on shelf-edge signage far more than a mustard blob would. The in store foot-print has risen hugely with the rollout of Nectar prices so I doubt it’s going anywhere anytime soon.
I used to think Nectar was a really weak scheme by comparison to Clubcard, and I used to enjoy building up a huge balance of points with my prized Tesco Premium Credit Card as well as bonus points, TCB and standard Tesco spend, then I’d get nice redemptions with Hilton or Hotelsdotcom.
Then all the third party earning partners, including TCB, were stopped. Then the bonus points dwindled to almost nothing leaving just the app coupons. Then the Hilton redemptions went, along with a load of other good ones. The final nail in the coffin was the drop in the redemption rate with partners for 3x to 2x.
Nectar on the other hand have stuck rigidly to their valuation and I think the Avios conversion route was a bit of a gamechanger (albeit now nerfed, still quite useful as a non-flyer). Nectar Amex is a great product, just a shame the card isn’t particularly sexy.
Woah this looks amazing
What is visa offers? I can’t find it.
I tried using visaconcierge but account creation failed and after contacting support, they told me that visaconcierge doesnt support wise or zing.
These bonuses look great - presumably it only applies when you purchase/book the hotel with the Zing card?
Not necessarily. I booked a car last summer and whilst it said you had to be able to prove eligibility for the rate (i.e. potentially show them the card), you didn’t have to pay with that card. I imagine the hotels would be similar if you were paying at the property.
Thank you for letting me know. Anyone know if Zing comes with a hard or soft credit check please? Guessing I’ve missed the founding member card at this point.
No check that I could see, and I think they’re still issuing the founding member cards, someone got one quite recently.
No checks at all, hard or soft.
I got my card last week and it didn’t say founding member even though the virtual card in app did
Any chance new Wise is numberless?
Nope, numbers on the back.
White card is numberless though.
They do a credit card now???
Just looked it up and sounds like an interesting product, spend from a pre-allocated pot and pay interest on only what you use.
Wise is smashing it, design–wise (pun intended).
