You know that, I know that, but it didn’t stop queuing right round the corner at some ATMs!
They used to, not sure they do anymore.
On a similar note, I’m absolutely positive there was a startup calling themselves the “bank of England” and saying they were going to offer accounts soon.
Either I’ve totally dreamt that in some kind of strange dream or it did happen and they’ve been lawyered into non existence.

I’ve received a “Welcome to your new account” email. But, I was lacking a customer number, acc/sort code and activation code. I gave RBS a call and was given my acc/sort code. Now, I’m trying to sign up for Digital Banking and I’m getting this:
If I was patient, I’m sure that all would become clear but I’m a curious sod.
The customer number arrived via email the day after the welcome email, the activation code came via SMS the day after that.
