It really won’t. Don’t be skewed by people on here or on MSE who will use a dozen accounts and transfers for an extra few pence.
It was at max £15 a month, that you can still get some of. Most people will just shrug and carry on.

Playing with Starling app I am pretty certain it’s not designed by a neurodivergent team. They chop and change their navigation to the point I’d rather throw my phone against the wall. There is absolutely no logic in how the navigation changes, too many hidden menus, and I’m always perplexed how others can praise Starling UX to be “clean” or “easy to navigate”.
I have no idea, agreed they should if they haven’t. In my case, I’m not neurodivergent, so for me, I find the interface very clean and clear.
I used chase very early on, and it drove me nuts because it was painful to use, slow and that was on an iPhone.
As to whether people will or won’t leave now some of the cashback has gone. I think only time will tell. Obviously I’ve seen online that it’s no longer being recommended but that’s just those sites I’ve visited. It’s not concrete proof either way. I do feel the cashback offering was a big draw though
IMO the cashback is minimal. I’ve made nigh on £300 currently. The new set up of cashback on groceries, travel and petrol won’t leave me far short and I’m not that bothered for a few quid. The reason I like Chase was in my pre-retirement era, when I worked in International Banking, Chase were our USD correspondent bank and in my opinion they were very good. Old memories count for a lot but that’s my personal opinion for what its worth. BTW I find their notifications almost instantaneous which is great too. Of course their lack of loans etc is disappointing but that doesnt affect me though I can see for others that would be a drawback.
I dont find it as fast as Monzo (iOS) but its mostly splitting hairs as its within 30-45 seconds when its slowest. The notification for 3DS seems to be their slowest type but still not slow slow, the app though isnt the fastest at actually showing the prompt when you hit the notification but the app updating balance etc isnt exactly fast which is frustrating.
Maybe it’s because I use GWallet and rarely the physical card. By the time I’ve put the phone back in my pocket the notification sounds. That’s probably within about 10 seconds.
Question: on iOS if I use apple pay I get an apple pay notification as well as an app notification, does the same happen with GPay?
I dont use the physical card at all really but like I said its not slow slow generally, just no where near as fast as Monzo for me but spend notifications arent too slow.
The open the app balance updates are too slow, annoyingly slow at times and 3DS prompt can take a little to show up but not anything that’s too serious.
I wish they tweaked the app to load the 3DS/balance as a priority then dripped the line items after.
You do receive a GWallet notification which is simultaneous to the Chase notification.
My fav Chase app feature is having several account details under one name.
So I moved all my payees to Chase. Other accounts I hold only have one account of mine as payee.
Anything else goes to Chase and that’s where I do all transfers from.
For example I have my 18 accounts in Chase under one name listing, this would be a mess with other banks I tried since you would have to make an entry for each, then wonder what bank does this sort code or account belong to. Chase automatically adds the bank name against the saved details.
With Chase you can rename each account under someone to whatever you want.
Similar setup to me, all my other accounts are grouped under my payee name. Monzo also groups them like this (not sure about Starling).
I do tend to use Chase as the conduit for most payments for this reason. If I want to transfer from bank A to bank B, or make a credit card payment, it’s easier to go into Chase and out again, than having to have every other account added a payee on every other bank. The grouped UI of accounts with the same name makes the list more manageable.
I do the same - I think it’s excellent as a fund-shifting hub if you have loads of accounts.
One thing to note is if you create a spare Chase account for a switching offer to a legacy bank that you actually intend to use you’ll end up with a nightmare list of identically named payees
Seems an ad campaign to go with this is happening, lots of focus on other features like savings rather then Cashback happening
Not sure if you mean you’re happy/unhappy with the duplicate notifications but you can switch the Apple Pay notification off under the card settings in wallet.
Thanks, no I was just wondering if the same thing happened with Google Pay.
It does
Glad you went there - I had a blast dancing away there.
Though one beer an hour! You’re a slow drinker
That’s more like it…
You can come drinking with me now
I actually have a day trip to London but I’m not sure how I can squeeze so much in during that day (coach down and back again same day).
I’ll try work out what the plan is and maybe work around that.
21st June I think it is.
