As a non-Monzo user I can totally see Chase being my main bank if they maintain good rewards and obviously get direct debits set up.
I would then have a totally separate account for bills, and be able to set money into an account for spending when overseas, just set the card to spend from that account and never have to worry.
My day to day spend will remain on the Amex… I am still getting more than 1% value in air miles from this for the flights I take.
The way I see Chase working for me at the moment is replacing Starling (for work) and Tesco Bank Clubcard Pay+ (for petrol).
I’ll use my Clubcard to get points for petrol instead of the Pay+ card, and also get the cashback with Chase.
For work, I’ll just put all my travel transactions that I currently put on Starling and claim back.
That would work if no other bills came off your card while you were away.
Sadly the lack of card numbers per account really reduces its appeal. I would be limiting what I can do right now, albeit not for free, but far far more capable.
Its appearing to be a fair bit of a damp squib, it has a tiny bit of interest and a time limited bit of cash back and thats about it.
