It seems all HSBC’s credit cards are like that. I stupidly opened an M&S credit card and found out they have a separate Gpay card number than the physical card number and the account number, both of which are 16-digit. :roll_eyes:

All Google pay and Apple Pay cards have their own number generated, that’s extra security.

You misunderstood my point. The final 4 digit in Google wallet app’s preview for HSBC cards were a completely different number, it’s not the tokenised number that we can see in GPAy/Apple when paying with our contactless devices.

So for example, I get given physical card ending 1234, most banks when you add the card onto GPay shows card ending 1234. But with HSBC, they managed to issue card ending 9630 when the account number ends with 6789.

Fair, works normal in Apple.

I also don’t really have much use for Chase now other than the cash back. If I had to guess, we could see a change to the cash back offer this year - maybe it’ll be linked to a paid account option.

I’ve also stopped using the savings accounts now. Not very ‘rewarding’ that only new customers get the special rates :sweat_smile:

Yes even my mum and her friends do, sole reason is having a separate bills account on the same app however once the saving rates drop any savings I have in the account is going elsewhere.

My HSBC cards also work like this. GPay shows the last four digits of my physical card numbers.

I think Chase have some advantage here. My dad would never open a Monzo/Starling account because they aren’t proper banks to him.

He’s got a Chase account, because he’s heard of Chase, that big American bank, they’re legit.

Something that always grinds my gears is when any company (not just banks) give better offers to new customers and not ones who have been with them for years. I know it’s a ploy to attract people but I wish they also had similar offers once you’ve been with them for a long time too. Incentivise joining and staying.

I see no value to Chase other than the cashback.

Their app is meh. Its speed has improved but it’s still very noticeably slower to update and to load screens than Monzo and other bank apps, which is so bad for a bank that wants to be app-only.

I don’t care about the brand name, in fact I might lean on not using it due to its parent company’s behaviour over the years.

The credit card is just another commission-free card like the other 6 or 7 such credit cards out there. 0% - similar or better deals are out there, but they don’t appeal to me anyway as I am a sworn debt-free person (except mortgage) since paying off big debts several years ago.

If cashback goes, I will have no use for it at all.

We have a problem with some of our systems at the moment.

It means that some card transactions have come through as credits, rather than debits. This means you might have more money in your account than you should. If this has happened to you, please do not spend this money, as we may need to claim it back later.

Your payments in and out of your accounts are unaffected. Your card will work as normal in store and online.

Both debit and credit card transactions. Had about 4 reversed so far.

I just had a payment I made yesterday refunded to me out of the blue.

They will absolutely take it back :joy:

What a mess. They seem to be having a few issues lately.

That’s a pretty strange issue to have lol. How does something as core as that suddenly get broken in such a way? :thinking:

The transactions are labelled as “reversal”, so does this mean the money would have been taken back from wherever the purchase was made, like a chargeback?

Don’t know if they still use the same terminology, but a while back our accounts people talked about minusing out negative numbers which, of course, adds it unless we translated it into normal speech.
