Chase UK Chat (Part 1)

I had the same today.

Account already empty tbf

Ditto here. Until I can sort something else out I’ll put it in the
Post Office which is 4.45% until 3 May. Then crashes to 1.34% :disappointed:

What’s everyones thoughts on whether Chase will end or decrease the 1% Cashback on the debit card?

They’re making a loss on every eligible card transaction of around 0.7% which can’t be sustainable if they want to become profitable, however removing the cash back means they’ve nothing much to offer and I suspect a lot of customers will leave.

Can’t pay in cash, cheques, app limited to 1 device, average customer service (IMO). Although atm withdrawals abroad still free unlike Monzo/Revolut (over £200).

People will whine about it and then leave the bank. I’ll still use it for foreign stuff or will mostly use their CC for foreign use since it’s also got no fees abroad. I think Chase is a good spending account - just depends which one you prefer for 0% fees abroad.

For the 1% cashback ending, It’ll probably end soon or they’ll drop the rate. It’s been like three years now?

All my spend is on my Chase credit card now, so I have effectively foregone the debit card cashback for now anyway.

It probably is on their review agenda for this year.

Doesn’t the Chase Credit Card come with a 0% offer??

0% for 18 months yes.

So stoozing the balance in a savings account at 3.5% is better than a 1% cashback offer anyway really.

Isn’t it also a invite only card??

I don’t see it anywhere on the Chase UK website??

Currently they’re only offering it to selected customers yes. That will likely change soon enough though.

That’s gonna be good for other customers who would like it.

I personally don’t like or use Credit Cards but it’s nice to see Chase UK moving into the UK Credit Card market

What is Chase’s selling point if not the cashback?

I think the Cashback is the main selling point of Chase.

But also Chase is a big name across the entire world so I think many people like the brand of Chase and get an account for that reason to.

Also Chase does have some alright savings rates and also easy connection to Nutmeg their Investment Platform.

Lots of people fail to realise this and straight up said the card’s dead. I don’t know another 0% card that offers 0% foreign fees, either. It’s now perfect for my holiday bookings as I can book in local currency and not get hit with fees.

Tesco Bank offer a 0% Credit Card with no overseas spend.

Clubcard Plus i think it is

Nice. ÂŁ7.99 monthly fee for the account, it seems.

Mine is at 5% atm

Yeah it’s still available on the Tesco Website and you can still apply for it.

I looked and the Tesco Black Credit Card seems to be a bit of a different product.

Nationwide is 0% overseas with 15 months at 0%, Virgin cashback is 0% overseas with 0.25% cashback as is Barclays rewards. Halifax clarity is 0% overseas.

So far, Nationwide is up there behind Chase. I wouldn’t count the other cards in the same boat since they’re not a 0% purchase card.

I have nothing else to say except that’s a seriously on brand avatar. Well played, well played.
