ffs
Yeah, I found the same issue yesterday, minus the warning message. (Android)
I actually think Chase is too open about these things. By being transparent they get flamed when often the fix is in place within a few hours.
Whereas NatWests spending insights has been down since before Xmas and the Monzo app often shows āsomethings wrongā and is slow to update.
Not trying to defend Chase or accuse anyone of flaming but Iām not sure being so open really helps them.
No thatās a very good point, thereās definitely a balance between being too open and not recognising issues. Iām not sure something this minor needed a big alert in the app, maybe just a little
icon in the corner that expanded to show minor issues would be fine (or just not bother at alll)
They likely save themselves a lot of money being open up front without hundreds/thousands people messaging support saying thereās an issue or help me fix it.
Makes sense, though they have been very out there with all the issues happening this last year or so.
Never seen a bank have so many troubles to be fair.
Iāve honestly not experienced any major feature not working for years with Monzo. Iām sure thereās been issues somewhere, they just havenāt affected me and I open the app every day.
Honestly, I think the openness is a good thing, but the problem is really that Chase breaks all the time.
Just to say when Chase had their huge outage a couple of months ago they were pretty slow to post they were having issues which only added to the mess so them saying there are issues now more promptly is definitely better.
Does it though? First Direct goes down at least once a month, and other banks have issues too. But since theyāre not reported, people donāt tend to notice them. Chase does have some reliability issues granted, and itās probably the least stable of all banks but I really donāt think theyāre doing any favours about being so open
Perception is everything.
You canāt seem to scroll back as much anymore, but thereās definitely fewer incidents than there was during the October(?) period when it seemed like it was daily, but now you have that reputation that you break often, itās very hard to shake.
Thatās exactly what Google gave me when I searched for āChase Statusā
This mornings app update seems a little snappier than it was yesterday. Couldāve been jinxed by the issues they were facing.
I wonder if the Nutmeg integration will happen this year, the 1 year zero fees offer for Chase customers last year was nice (and I jumped on that and moved my pension over) but theyāre still separate platforms, would be fun to see the app bulked out a bit with Nutmeg features
Anyone want to make any predictions for Chase in 2023?
Any new products to be launched directly from Chase/available in the Chase app?
Credit card?
Nutmeg from within the main app?
Joining CASS?
What will happen on 1st March (after the end of the original offer?)
Anything else? (Mortgages?)
For my part, I suspect that Chase will focus on growing the numbers that use the current account as their main account.
In the first instance, thatāll probably mean things CASS, open banking, overdrafts: things that folk expect from a āproperā bank.
As part of that, theyāll probably want to align their incentives with main account use. So Iād expect cashback to be paid on direct debits instead of card payments, or for card payments where you have x number of direct debits and your salary paid in.
Once theyāve done that, maybe a credit card.
But the biggest issue, I think, is their tech stack and the app. It feels like theyāre building on a foundation of sand right now. The Android app just isnāt good enough. And thereās still so much downtime in the backend.
PS on Nutmeg, I think theyāll work on back office integration and leave the apps separate for now. I think that Nutmeg has a bit more brand equity for the moment.
I also think theyāll probably want to see what Monzo does on investments first, given that they have formā¦

IMO it does, when I used the app I found problems (minor and major) very frequent.
I donāt use First Direct but if it goes down unscheduled once a month, Iād just say that goes down all the time too!
I canāt really comment because I work at Monzo - so have a bit of a biasā¦
But this factors into my decision a fair bit - I donāt use Chase for my savings mainly for this reason.
Yes definitely for me. A very key reason I wouldnāt use them other than rinsing things like cash back (which is their loss).
Banks are the lifeblood of the global capitalist system, I honestly think if you are going to make ethical choices anywhere it should be with banks.
