Card payments from Pots missing in Google Sheets

Heya,

I recently started using the feature that enables exporting data in google sheets so I can do my own reporting. I have explored the data and I think I have a good grasp on how the data works. However, I seem to be missing some transactions. As far as I can see, all the transactions on the spreadsheet are transactions from and to my main account, and most transactions from pots still appear as the funds are first transferred to the main account. For example, I have a Bills account from which I pay my rent by direct debit. On the day my rent is due, the money is transferred from my Bills pot to my main account then the rent is paid from the main account. But when a transaction occurs directly in the pot - i.e. if I use a virtual card to pay for a bill from my Bills pot - it does not seem to appear in the spreadsheet.

Is this a bug? Am I missing something? Or is that supposed to be the case? If it isn’t a bug, would you consider adding these transactions? The Type could be Card Payment and there could be something notifying that this was paid from a pot in Notes and #tags, e.g. Paid from PotName.

Looking forward to hearing back from you

Hey @BlakeLemonPants. Welcome to the community.

This is exactly how it works. The Google Sheet export has largely been untouched since lauch so doesn’t take into account new features like virtual card payments from pots.
Direct Debits work exactly as you described, first transferring the money from the pot into your main account, and then the direct debit is paid from the main account. I believe this it to minimize the risk of payments failing if there are funds in the account but not enough in the pot.

However, Virtual Cards assigned to pots treat the pot as a separate account, and so payments come out of it directly, and will fail if the pot doesn’t have enough funds.

I too wish they would change this so that we can view all transactions in the sheet, and expand it to all pots and Flex too.

Thanks for confirming @BurnyCubbers77  I’m trying to make a mini database as a data engineering side project and this is really messing with my data model

Have you tried the API? Not sure if that includes all pots.

Oh, no I haven’t. But good shout! I’ll give it a go. Thank you
