That doesn’t mean that comments here don’t matter. I don’t have a problem with skeptical comments either or warning people to be cautious
I don’t think we’re making much progress here so I’d be happy to get back to the original topic.

With respect- please can we get back on topic. Hijacking someone else’s thread isn’t particularly useful.
Gosh this became quite a heated debate
I for one am very anxious about where my data goes and what subsequently happens to it
With that in mind I take onboard what people have to say on a regular basis but also try to remove all the noise and rubbish that people like to post
At the end of the day it is my decision to what I decide to do
I have found out that when I admit to a problem or outline something negative Fintech forums turn into a pack of vultures on individuals
Just a personal take
I have Emma onboard and it is early days with some teething problems
Yet to find out if indeed it has any benefit on my finances
But again where is the data that it now has from me and what will or can happen to it
I realise that if I want to walk back from the data release I will have to change all my passwords and access codes
An aggregator wouldn’t continue accessing your data after you close your account with them.
But this is one the reasons why Open Banking was needed. Once the APIs are available, you’ll simply be able to revoke access with a single tap of a button instead.
That’s true
I’m now trying to work out if I have to contact each bank individually to have my security settings changed in case I decide to move away from EMMA
This then means that I take back control of the situation rather than realy on what somebody says they are doing
Let’s see what happens👍
I’m not at that point yet as I’m still trying to learn what EMMA can provide
I mean, you could if you want to
(Sorry, deleted my previous comment as it didn’t make sense after your edit but had a poor connection so there was a delay & you replied in the meantime).
I know
It’s all a learning curve and to be honest this would probably be over kill
I really want something like Emma, and have wanted it for ages. Currently I manually enter transactions as no service I’ve found supports all my banks, and would be reluctant to trust one with my bank passwords anyway. With open banking and proper API access I’m really hoping it comes around soon.
Personally I’d prefer it to be via a 3rd party rather than something my bank provides - I don’t really wanty bank’s app cluttered up with aggregation features. I’d also like an aggregator that charges a recurring fee for the service, rather than one that tries to upsell me on other products.
So not EMMA right now for you
Yeah probably not. I’m hopeful though that with the rollout of open banking something will come around soon. I’ll keep an eye on Emma though and see where they do
Well I’ve set up on EMMA and will see how it evolves
Nice that it tells me already that I’m on track
Unfortunately even if I wanted to use it, Emma doesn’t support any banks I use, so it wouldn’t be any good for me. I do find that my budgeting app helps keep me on track though, and would love something more automated
Fingers crossed and things will move on rather rapidly
