Monzo, please advise on breakdown cover.
I’m considering moving from FlexPlus, but the Monzo RAC document relating to breakdown cover for UK & European cover is so misleading. On one page it says it covers vehicles with trailers/caravans to a maximum length of 5.5 metres. Another page explains up to 7 metres. Total confusion to whether it covers Campervans/motorhomes. As mentioned in an earlier post, FlexPlus use the AA which is light years ahead of the RAC. AA deals with problems, where RAC will look for problems not to pay you. Check the complaints on the internet. As there is not enough clarity, I’m now forced to stay with FlexPlus, which is a shame, As I was going to move my investments across too. In a nutshell, please do your research on new products for your customers. Having seen errors here, doesn’t give me confidence in transferring investments across anymore.
So basically you don’t like the RAC, so you’ve come here to complain that Monzo chose the RAC instead of the AA?
Flexplus insurance is far better in my view. Flexplus also covers for “pandemics” which Monzo’s insurance is far more limited in this respect. Also the £ max limits may be higher with Flexplus.
You need to read it again
You are only covered for cars, light vans, motorhomes or minibuses that are less than:
a. 3.5 tonnes
b. 5.5 metres long (including a tow bar)
c. 2.55 metres wide
However, if a vehicle breaks down in the UK or Europe and a caravan or trailer is attached to it,
we’ll recover the caravan or trailer as well, as long as it is less than:
– 3.5 tonnes
– 7.0 metres long (including a tow bar)
– 2.55 metres wide
– In Europe it must be less than 3m high
The 7 metres long is a caravan
