What if this was a lowkey way of gauging what we want most.
Just stalked @anon50039658âs latest activity on the forum
Got a feeling it is something to do either with Monzo Plus (possibly new offerings a la interest on account balance or gadget insurance); or
More savings products/vehicles.
Think @Peter_G has it with his myriad of guesses!
Iâm hoping itâs some monzo plus progress releases. If itâs the US launch itâs hardly exciting for existing customer (although it is good news).
Hope that tomorrow Iâll be able to order my metal plus card and add things to my existing plus package
I would love them to launch in Europe too. So many people in mainland Europe know about Monzo but are unable to get an account.
I understand the issues with different languages but the could trial it and scale the customer service team accordingly?
Iâd prefer if they didnât do this if im honest.
Team stretched thin enough as it is developing BA, JA, Plus and now US expansion.
Feels like CA improvements have fell by the wayside.
Hopefully a bigger rollout of Monzo Plus with more features. Iâll be onboard right away.
I wouldnât expect the current customer service team would cover support for other languages? Probably they will for the US launch though.
I donât think we will see an international expansion - yet
There are too many things that are half-baked IMHO to give a good enough reason to expand. Build the base stonewall product first, then send out internationally.
I meant in terms of general book of work

True but many of the features they have built for the English market might have to be adjusted/restructured to accomodate different processes, laws, cultures.
That is sort of another point into not expanding right now.
If a feature isnât even finished for the UK market (and is therefore subject to change) how can you ensure that any implementation of the same feature overseas would continue to meet legal, process and culture standards.
I expect a big announcement about the US launch and the Y Combinator funding.
Although, I wouldnât be surprised if thereâs an Ireland/EU soft-launch before then. It did always seem dumb that theyâve not launched to some extent in Europe, even if its just so migrants can take their Monzo home with them and start some word-of-mouth traction.
Perhaps itâll be the launch of multi-currency support? Theyâll need that for a US launch anyway?
Iâve thought about this and theyâll need Spanish speakers for America. Might as well just soft launch the EU with English-only support and if it starts to take off in any particular country then expand the support team at that point.
As for the âbig few weeksâ, I imagine thereâll be a host of announcements around the US launch:
- Y Combinator funding
- Some sort of significant name in the US finance world coming onboard in some role
- Multi-currency support
- Partnership with some sort of significant US finance company
- Multi-language support
- International roadmap
- EU launch
- US launch
I agree, the amount of people asking/interested about my hot coral card when in mainland Europe is crazy. I think people trust banks less and donât understand how you can live without a real branch but once they see the app they are blown away.
I do wonder if a soft launch could create the impact that Monzo had in the English market.
Letâs remember that Monzo was only really âsoft launchedâ in the UK until a few weeks ago when the TV adverts began. Monzoâs entire traction to date has been word-of-mouth. Itâs dumb to not let that start to build up in the rest of the EU when you can do so with a single license and SEPA payments.
Tech forums and blogs in Italy already talk about Monzo, I just feel it could be a great test to start the ball rolling, improve merchant data and collect feedback for future improvements.
Has no one suggested Apple Pay?
