How is NatWest the first when HSBC has been offering BNPL since last year?

HSBC offers for Credit Cards? Maybe NatWest will follow Monzo and offer BNPL for Debit Card transactions ?

Is that a question? If so, yes they do - but charge a fee instead of interest.

Is it similar to Barclaycard instalment plan?

I closed my HSBC credit card couple months ago

Casually browsing the Halifax ultimate reward for £17 per month.

Covers house emergency, car breakdown cover, mobile insurance, family worldwide travel insurance and £5 per month reward.

Monzo Premium £15
Breakdown cover £5

Instantly saving £3pm, and then the £5 reward would bring the total cover cost to £12pm :eyes:

Salary paid in each month - £1,500+ credit :white_check_mark:
Monzo.Me £500 for the debit card spend :white_check_mark:
£125 for switching in (Santander is going in) :white_check_mark:

£19 for a years cover (unless my maths is skewed)

VS

£240 paying at present, or £144 otherwise (not contributing the £125).

Plus any savings for the other half who would usually buy his own travel insurance.

Only mention this as it’s a time to start saving for a house, penny pinch and all that

Do you have enough in to get the interest to reduce the monthly monthly to its min?
Its just a factor rather than £19 for a years cover mind you.

If that £5 reward is based on keeping £5,000 in the account, I’d argue that shouldn’t really be thought of as a discount on the account fee. You can get approx. £5/month interest through free accounts elsewhere so I’d view it as just spending some of your income.

If the reward is based on debit card spending, there’s perhaps more of an argument to think of that as a discount on account cost (assuming you’re not getting rewards on card spending elsewhere).

The £5 reward is for the debit card spend £500 a month, which I could just use Monzo.me to hit that target in one shot.

This is pretty much why I canx premium, it’s overpriced compared to some other offerings out there.

Interesting that Halifax offer this, but Lloyd’s don’t. Shame, cos I’ve just signed up for Club Lloyds too

When I was Lloyds staff it worked out ok as it was half price £10.50 and then the pay in amount was halved too.

Not sure why Lloyds go for £21pm and then Halifax £17pm with a better offering? I think the Lloyds branding and app is awful.

Can’t imagine the Halifax is too different, but I really disliked the Lloyds app :joy:

Funnily enough, I preferred the Lloyds app, gonna see how it stacks up to Monzo

I personally found it too button-y

Disliked the pay buttons right under the accounts.

Also noticed Halifax allow cheque imagine up to £1,000 per cheque, and capped at £2,000 per day.

Not that I’d ever use it but someone may find it useful.

No I get that, this is why I’m going to test it to see if I can manage with the buttons first

Oh ok. They’re a bit dopey though if they don’t have that kind of transaction (as well as debit card top ups) as excluded from rewards eligibility.

Doesn’t specify with the terms :crossed_fingers:t3::pray:t3:

Maybe this has been around for a while but my HSBC app now has an “investment” tab and you can invest in a range of funds directly for an app.

(why you’d do this before you used up your ISA limit I’m not sure).

Also really do look beyond packaged insurance. Often packages cover more than you need.

Not going to the USA this year? You can get much cheaper travel insurance.

Renting? You don’t need home insurance or cover - you can’t usually bring your own repairmen in anyway.

Cheaper phone? You can probably get cover for a £400 mobile very cheaply, no need for 2k cover

Own a place? You can get your phone covered on your home insurance

etc etc.Insurance is generally very cheap these days, even £15 a month is quite a lot unless you really need all this cover.
