So you can qualify on a much lower salary? Is that how it is in practice, or something buried in the ts and cs?
I always wonder about this⦠I have a NatWest prem account and because I contribute so much to my pension, my actual net salary I get paid is way below what would look like over 100k.
Nobody has flagged it with me so Iām not sure how they calculate eligibility.
Not sure of the exact T&Cs but it says on one of their examples that as long as you pay in over £40,000 over 12 months you are eligible
I do - salary goes into HSBC as they specify that as a requirement, then I send a round-robin payment at the start of the month to all accounts, feeding savings accounts along the way. NatWest / RBS were the strictest for qualification in my experience, each needing an hour long āfinancial healthā chat before a button was pressed to convert my customer profile.
BTW Barclays do a USD account, but their currency accounts are very clunky and other than euros I have no experience in getting funds sent direct.
Do you actually have the right salary to qualify though? And did NW/RBS want payslips?
Not sure if youāre replying to me or someone else.
If it was me then yes I have the right salary to qualify for Barclays premier.
Canāt answer the NW/RBS question as never banked with either.
Barclays: yes on salary, for the others I qualify through savings/investments. I have no idea how thoroughly the NW group accounts were checked as I only held with Ulster at the time of application, and was led to believe NW, RBS & Ulster canāt see each others systems
Only RBS and NatWest are technically separate banks. Ulster Bank (NI) has been for some time a subsidiary of NatWest (basically, a ātrading asā brand name rather than a standalone bank).
They do share information, for example thereās a maximum (3 IIRC?) number of credit cards you can hold across the group. For them to know that they would have to consolidate certain customer information at NWG level.
I believe Santander and Nationwide still offer bankers drafts.
Like with Lloyds, I can only find references to bankers drafts on Santanderās corporate accounts page, not on personal accounts. Are you sure they still do? (NatWest did until 15 August this year.) I didnāt know Nationwide still do, that is good to know!
Bankers Drafts are still listed on Santanderās Fee Information Documents. For instance, on their new current account dated 2 days ago - but it is the same for their other personal accounts
Ah, gotcha. Thanks for that. Iāll admit if the choice is between Barclayās, Nationawide, and Santander Iām inclined to go for Nationwide (as I like their savings account options) but I donāt really know much about Santander to be honest.
The Premier account includes Apple TV and allows sharing with 5 family members. I understand you need an Apple device (phone, tablet or Mac) to register those you want to share with. How do you do this if youāre on Android and donāt have any Apple device?
As far as I know the sharing is when you set up Apple Family Sharing which can only be done from an Apple device. It also means that all purchases (apps, subscriptions etc) will be charged to the family organisers card
A £400 Switching bonus for premier is making me wonder if I should CASS over a spare chase current account.
Unreal!
Iām sure some people will read that and not bother!
You can now add Barclays cards to Samsung Wallet as well. Now just need NatWest to join them as well!
