I guess the answer is to have Monzo, Revolut & Starling plus whoever else comes along. You’ll get your fill of free overseas ATM withdrawals, but just via 3/4 providers!?
Not the ideal solution, but probably the one I will go with.

How dare Monzo user express their disappointment. How dare they!
If you don’t mind me asking, who do you bank with?
I knew this would happen immediately after I typed it.
I know it’s disgusting, heaven forbid they aren’t actually users just people from another forum coming on to troll
I think Starling Bank would suit your use case perfectly - no ATM fees at all , anywhere in the world , fill your boots
They were honest and posted their costs…
But starling only have about 3 active users Once they have 400000 costing them 60 quid a year they’ll soon drop free foreign ATM transactions.
I’d like to think that Monzo has a decent community with only the odd exception (like some idiot who posted negative comments because I won’t pay for a mobile card reader)
they must have more than 10,000 by now I would guess
Will Monzo still have 400000 after the full move to CA … time will tell
Oh Please do let’s can call this evening now…
Doesn’t that show that most people viewed Monzo as a travel card and not a real bank. It seems that was feature most people used. When I was first told about Monzo that is what I thought it was a travel card, I didnt know it was trying to be a bank. The free ATM withdrawals are the only thing that got me and my friends to sign up.
Look I understand now Monzo main feature is the app, after a couple of comments I get that.
Other than the google map part my Barclay’s app does the same things instant balance, instant purchase notification, so still a little fuzz on why its so great. I will say the orange card is easy to see and find after a few drinks.
If you google Monzo the main thing I see is people chatting about the free withdrawals. If they couldn’t offer full time maybe they shouldn’t have at the start.
I will still keep the card and get my £200 free a month as I am travelling for the next 2 years but I wont switch other to it full time.
Am i mistaken or was it not clearly stated that we would be restricted to one cash withdrawal of £200 abroad per month? I was under the impression that the limit was £200 but I could make multiple withdrawals to make up that sum. I am quite dissappointed by this news.
probably not? but the leavers will be the ones costing Monzo the most with high overseas withdrawal rates?
Pre-paid users get one free a month up to £200.
Current Account get as many up to £200 a month free.
Hopefully by Dec 18, everyone will have been offered a CA so it shouldn’t affect many customers.
time will indeed tell - a few on this tread are obviously saying they will no longer use Monzo as it will cost them 3 % - presumably they are the users that are costing Monzo the money and using the card for the specific purpose of withdrawing cash free from fees , not anybody that wants to use the app to get some control on their spending - who knows
I know that. But while all 3 options covered their total costs only one closely reflected what they were paying. Therefore I stick by my claim that the 1%/2% option was fairest and the 3% unfair
But was this mentioned in the original post? I’m just trying to work out if I voted without having this information or if I just missed it. I’m currently travelling so switching to a current account isn’t an option haha. Anyway I just thought it was quite an oversight to not mention this detail.
enjoy your ATM free travels whilst you can
