Announcing the Overdrafts Preview!

Same here (although mine isn’t closed)

Yeah mine is £750 too.

I’m on Android! I got it this evening.

i got £1k…luckily the interest has outweighted the charges every month thus far

Is everyone getting their overdrafts? Looking out for mine now! Glad to see Monzo bumping up the pace already for 2018!

Got mine too!

Waiting on my notification now, but what are Monzo’s own eligibility criteria that you have to meet to be able to even get the option to apply for the overdraft right now?

Quick question, I don’t need an overdraft but would it do my credit rating any good having an overdraft and not using it?

I’m afraid you don’t have a credit rating.

Having an overdraft (or unused overdraft limit) may influence other lenders should you go on to apply for further credit (a loan, or mortgage for example) but it is impossible to say how it will influence others’ decisions because it is only one small part of a bigger aspect of your financial life (level of wages or salary, number of children, whether you pay your gas bill on time etc.) and no one knows how these factors interplay with each lender, as lenders keep these decisions secret, even from the Credit Reference Agencies.

Ignore the number they show you as a ‘score’ because they make this up.

Has anyone received their overdraft invite today? Just wondering if they are inviting today too or if it’s a Mon-Fri deal.

Are you sure that Monzo checked credit history ?
To access your credit file Monzo have to ask you for your income, addresses history, employment details.
Monzo never asked me for this information.
So it looks overdraft limit based on your Monzo card usage IN - OUT…

That’s not entirely true. Monzo only needs your and and addresss to pull out your credit file. Details on income are to satisfy FCA’s requirements on lenders to assess the borrowers affordability, and is separate to the credit file.

When you create your current account, Monzo would already have your address and name and other details that’s sufficient enough to pull your credit file I think.

To check if Monzo actually checked your credit file, I’d suggest signing up with noddle/ clearscore as they let you see your CallCredit / Equifax credit files respectively.

Not true I’m afraid, to run a credit check all they need is your name, address and date of birth. All of these Monzo already has.

I got a reply from Customer Support :

Thanks for getting in touch!

The overdraft limit offered is based on an analysis of your credit score. Unfortunately, I can’t explain how this is calculated - so the best I can do here is to pass this on as feedback to the lending team for them to provide you with a better explanation - they will be in on Monday.

Maybe they see that recorded and think you have enough credit? @anon98360489

And enough for me  I want to close my Barclays account. Closed Tesco bank account recently - very slooow transactions, no android pay support…
Not Sure about Starling - very cheap overdraft but they’re payment processor… too many outages

I use Starling, given a good OD, I have never had a problem with any of the outages, I guess it’s just what people feel comfortable with.

Anybody requested and got an overdraft today or is this indeed a Mon-Fri thing?

I would imagine Mon - Fri when the office is open!
