This one’s all over the web. Think also Curve has it as one of their opt in.
When I’m 18, is there any chance I could apply for a basic AMEX card and get accepted?
I got a Green Card at 18 after a couple of months with a basic Capital One card. I remember reading on MSE forum at the time that Amex seems to be fine with thin credit histories, as long as there isn’t anything negative on the credit file. Definitely try the eligibility checker!
Very quick in my experience, ordered for a family member over the weekend and arrived early in the week.
Anyone has a picture of how the Plat Cashback card looks like in Apple Pay? Was wondering how it looks like in a digital wallet
Looks quite nice but would love to see a refresh soon also
I already have an Amex credit card and only got these results:
But I agree, I wouldn’t get too many too soon, I know it’s probably exciting being able to get them but plenty of time to apply for them in future.
Weirdly Amex isn’t always very generous with even existing customers. I’ve had one for years and would be surprised if I was eligible for another one, even though they increase my credit limit and lower my interest rates!
I always get 9/10 for all the cards, even though I already have the Everyday Cashback card. Last time I applied for another one, though, they turned me down.
100%. Just looking at my chances for an AMEX. I love the idea for cashback for it, since even though it’s incredibly slight, it’s still something, which I find interesting and applicable for my spending.
One thing I find weird with Amex is how easy is to get a high credit limit. When I applied for one they gave me £10K limit and within two years they increased it to £19500 and barclaycard only gave me £700 and I am not eligible to increase it after 1 year
I’ve had a CapitalOne card with a £750 credit limit for 2 years now
Also have Monzo Flex with a £500 limit which I don’t mind.
Have 9/10 eligibility for Amex so thinking I should apply for one and improve my available credit.
What’s your credit history looking like? Nationwide gave me 2.1k straight after being 18 at midnight
I got like 950 to 999 never missed any payments and always pay the credit cards in full each month.
if a person was rejected from an AMEX card, how long would they have to wait until they could reapply again
I believe with most things it’s around 6 months, mostly to allow your situation to change/improve.
Yeah, true. I just like the idea of the cashback and saving some sort of money. Always have liked AMEX as well for as long as I could remember. Tbh after getting an AMEx, I don’t think I’d take out any other form of credit at all
So my platinum everyday cashback card got a limit raise to £6k from £3k not long ago and although I have not used the extent of the often, mainly flights & furniture purchases. The flights made me consider the BA Card.
I hate hard searches and having done some CASS recently I pressed submit and closed my eyes.
Opened them to see I was approved with a £5k limit, taking my amex limit to £11k across the two cards. I am tempted to close the Platinum and have them move the limit across to the BA card as I have done in the past with the Gold card.
Excited for the card to arrive now!
