All Things Credit (Cards, Limits, Scores)

How do you pay for those?

Cheddar is done all through open banking.

Given it’s the same rate I wouldn’t be surprised if they both utilise the same provider behind the scenes.

I think card/Apple Pay.

I also have enough Revpoints for a £10 Primarni card :grimacing:

Amazing. :man_facepalming:

If they’re not reporting correctly a complaint is the way forward, a credit file needs to remain accurate and factual, it’s their job to report the information.

Not sure why it’s so difficult for them to resolve

I’ve asked them 3 times now to log it as a complaint. Even that seems to be difficult to do.

I knew Monzo’s customer support was bad but this is even worse than I’d imagined.

Plenty of places have UK support. It works fine. The company just have to, shock horror, pay for it.

Nationwide do it.

Starling do it.

Santander do it.

It’s perfectly possible and a very good idea. It shouldn’t be forced, but I absolutely think banking is more cultural than everyone thinks, and it’s too important to have someone who doesn’t understand the banking market they are working in.

It’s finally with the Monzo complaints team.

I’ve also asked them for confirmation of what a ‘subsciwrong’ is. :joy::man_facepalming:

Will share their response…

Could be even 6 per 1 UK person on min wage depending on the country they outsource from and the service used. The companies sourcing the workers pocket big chunks than the pennies they pay the guys.

I’d say off to the ICO for their mishandling of customer’s information. I heard ICO fines are uncapped.

The ICO won’t care. It’s more a delay, not mishandling.

This is why I’m happy sticking with my “old man bank” first direct for core banking. Might not have the fancy features but if there’s an issue it’s solved in 5 minutes on the phone and I don’t have to deal with this nonsense.

I’ve actually had a somewhat similar experience with first direct, albeit many years ago.

A direct debit on my 1st account bounced as I didn’t have enough funds in the account. FD put a missed payment marker on my credit file.

Took weeks of kicking up a fuss with the complaints team for them to eventually remove it as a one off.

The only other time I’d called FD was to apply for an overdraft (cannot be done online/app once account is open). Took 30-45 of interrogation before I was declined.

There’s ‘old’ and then there’s ‘ancient’.

First direct is great.

Oof, yeah I only keep a balance in my account to cover my bills over the month so that it ends with £0.00 on the 1st. Usually I check it on the 30th/31st to make sure the payments going out on the 1st match the balance in case any have changed without me realising. Was fine for ages and then the 2 times In forgot was the 2 times there was a change and I went overdrawn  Still within my arranged overdraft though as was only a few quid. Frustrating they went straight to a missed payment for you though instead of having some sort of grace period though, especially if it wasn’t a frequent thing.

This was many years ago. I believe they’ve changed their policy now and don’t hand out missed payment markers for bounced direct debits.

Their onboarding for new customers via the app has massively improved over the years, and they definitely get overlooked for being one of the better cards to use abroad.

I think the reality is we tell them to be less profitable on this one - if you want to handle people’s sensitive data and money that is the cost of your business.

If you don’t have adequate staffing, the cost ratio of staff to FoS complaints can rework their calculations. Longer wait times → FoS → case fee.

They’d hire staff quickly enough realising that one FoS case fee is 1/4 of their salary.

This is the second time I’ve heard it called Primarni, the first was a YouTuber called Callum. Is this a thing people actually say or did you pick it up from him?

Ehhh. I’d guess most don’t go to FOS, if the bank can throw £25 - £75 at the customer. And even if they do, this is just the cost of business for a bank.

I would love full UK support for all banks, but it’s unrealistic from a cost point of view.

As far as I know Starling and Co-op are the only banks truly committed to UK support. Triodos probably is as well.

A bunch like Nationwide have UK call centres, but then offshore chat teams.

No it isn’t. Banks can afford this. It would make them less profitable but it would also keep more money in the country and provide good stable jobs.

I don’t know why we think it’s not possible to do customer service in the UK, if food businesses can afford having staff flip burgers and take those burgers to the table, the bank can afford to spend some of their tens of millions, hundreds of millions and thousands of millions in profits hiring local people to talk to you.

This is a cost based choice. Not a requirement of staying open, same with branches.

Aren’t FD UK based?

Telephone yes, chat no.

Edit: ok apparently FD chat is UK based. Didn’t know this.
