Just a few thoughts as I attempt to become better with my money, it would be good transactions could be auto categorised using AI or otherwise. Or at least be able to set defaults for example tesco can be groceries/fuel and so on. Following on for that, it would be good to take pictures of our receipts and attach them to a transaction. My thinking is long term with OCR, it would be easier to know where money is going and allow proper analysis on how spending can be optimised, identify long term trends, link it to cashback? so users can get a pop up when they missed out on deals.
I’d like Monzo to evolve into a platform that becomes my digital money assistant, helping me to save where it can, identify waste expensive or improvements in spending habits.
Lets keep generative AI out of personal finance (or at the minimum default to off). Personal finance needs to be fully testable, not “sort of works most of the time”.
I really like the idea of making transaction tracking more automatic. Auto-categorisation combined with receipt scanning could make it much easier to understand spending patterns without having to manually update everything. The cashback and deal suggestions would also be a useful addition if they were based on actual spending habits.
That’s the vision I was going for. Right now I have a similar set up with Claude, Notion, google sheets and google drive. purely for the receipts, but it would be good if I can have it in monzo directly.
