I actually am responsive to ads on certain social media, esp Instagram. If an account I follow has tagged brands in the picture and I like the flatlay/ outfit/ aesthetic I will follow/ purchase. Conversely, I hate product placement on YouTube- eg MVs, short skits- I can’t be the only one who spots Dr. Dre. headphones in every singer’s MV and rolls their eyes?

With the recent IG update the ads aren’t as location accurate as before and it annoys me that it isn’t relevant to me at all and has unlearned everything I liked. It feels like Facebook giving me ads for kids potties?? What even is the point. I feel like Monzo could really do better on IG- eg sharing people going to exciting places with their card or more staff pics! More visuals!!! I’ve noticed Twitter seems to be the social media outlet of choice in the UK though and would probably be the platform most users/ potential users would use. Can’t fault the interaction on it I guess- some really good banter between fintech fans too.

I don’t know anyone on Twitter in real life, Facebook is king where I live. And instagram is only used by people from 8 to 18

Erm, I am in my 50s and on Instagram every day, but I only go on Facebook rarely just to interact with firms who annoyingly force me to do so thru Facebook instead of their own home page

I meant locally, where I live. I know it’s different other places and I’m sure round here there’s a few outside that range who use it, but in large they don’t

That’s so different in England(or SG), Facebook is now largely unused (just for birthdays/ articles/ interacting with older family members like your mum and aunt tagging you in random statuses), Twitter is used for business/personal/news. Instagram is more popular than ever especially with the shift away from Snapchat. And defo not just for kids, my dad is on it more than other platforms.
