Hi, Love Monzo, but find it really annoying that credits don’t count towards my expenditure within a specific category. For example, if I allocate expenditure to, say Family, and then someone pays me back or contributes to that cost and I also allocate that credit to that category, then I’d like to see the total for that category reflect that, even take it to a negative expenditure if I’m paid more than I spend. However, it only shows the outgoing amount. I find this really annoying … to the point where when I look at my monthly expenditure its meaningless as it doesn’t include where people have paid me back.

I’m afraid this isn’t something that is a high priority right now - it would actually require some fairly complex refactoring
We are aware of the bug and when we do have more capacity it will be something that gets looked at
The ‘workaround’ at the moment is to apply the ‘Exclude from Summary’ toggle on any spending transaction which you are later reimbursed for.
OK. Thanks for the workaround. Doesn’t help if I book two cinema tickets and my friend reimburses me for one of them (just one of the countless examples I seem to have). Looking forward to it rising up the backlog list as this is negating the whole reason that I’m moved to Monzo in the first place.

That backlog must be really long as here we are 5 years later and this has still not been implemented. This would be really helpful.

If someone sends me money for something I paid for; that spend is reduced by the amount of credit applied to the same category?
Really, is that when you use split payment? I’m looking for a way to cancel out situations like when you use some EV chargers, where they take an amount and then refund you what you don’t spend.
If the merchant is handling the refund appropriately such as with pay at pump fuel, the presentment should come back to the same transaction and adjust the cost accordingly (IE £100 initially, refunded £60 to amend the price to the £40 fuel).
If they’re sending it back as a separate transaction monzo won’t know what it’s for and I’m not sure inbound payments assign an MCC so can’t go back to the same category it was spent.
Bill splits have always worked fine monzo to Monzo, and sharing a payment link from the bill split and the third party using that link to pay back, it has by memory, in the past come where it should’ve.
