A request to increase my payment limit was declined today, when I was trying to transfer money to NS&I to buy Premium Bonds. Support wanted proof that I was trying to buy Premium bonds, and while I want to be kind to support, my proof was that I was trying to transfer to NS&Is bank account.
Is there a way to get NS&I recognised as a non-scammy account to pay lots of money to?
I guess I could, but NS&I is a state-owned savings bank and part of the Treasury National Savings and Investments - Wikipedia. I struggle to think of a less scammy destination for my money.
Recognition of the safety of the transaction based on the intended recipient currently seems to be missing at Monzo. Hopefully I wouldnât have this kind of problem paying, for example, âHMRC Cumbernauldâ.
The I suppose you could send a photo-shopped, or HTML-edited screengrab, of your premium bond account to Monzo support and theyâd let you do it?
But more seriously, NS&I have strong identification standards and it takes 3-5 days to withdraw money from a premium bond account. I expect the financial industry has access to information on how common a type of fraud that is.
