Willy Wonka Experience fail 🍬🍫👎🏼

Has anyone else spotted this story from my homeland?

Few videos in this STV article that show the scope of this less than sweet (see what I did there :eyes: ) event

Yeah but unless I’m not seeing something why on earth was the police called?

It was on the national news last night.

The thing that surprised me was that they were allowed to use the name Willy Wonka.

As far as I know the Roald Dahl estate is very protective of their IP.

I seen this :joy: hilarious.

Potential public order situation at a guess.

"We were just staying talking with people, others arriving and arriving and the crowd became angrier.”

Yeah I guess so just seems like the news picked it up because the word police was mentioned lol

If they’d just stepped into their pure imagination it could have been anything they wanted it to be

What was they thinking that there was an actual chocolate fountain with river? Maybe they needed to take some drugs before they entered :joy:

Sucks if you bought tickets.

I don’t like the BBC following the cringe tabloid trend of including huge selfies of anyone involved. Really doesn’t add anything to the story.

From the articles, it seems like 850 refunds were processed which is wild to think that many people thought it was going to be such a hit

Have definitely been to kids parties that have had more of a put together display…

+1 for that.

I have a particular dislike for vox pops. I want the news to tell me what’s happened and what it means. I don’t care what some rando in Stoke Poges thinks.

Yeah but let’s be real what could they have been expecting? A magical Oompa Loompa

The fact this thread is the first I’m hearing of this is why I always flop at the Guardian quizzes. :joy:

I am now convinced that there will be a question this week on either this story, Willy Wonka, or Roald Dahl.

To be honest anyone who actually scrolled through that website and still thought “yeah, why not” deserves what they got.

It was picked up by international press too, was pretty high up the NYT homepage yesterday https://www.nytimes.com/2024/02/27/world/europe/willy-wonka-experience-glasgow.html
