My favourite moment of the 9 years was in 2017 when I wrote on the community that Monzo should stop treating prospective crowd funders like they would be so lucky to invest in Monzo like they did in the first 2 rounds and instead reach out and try to get 100,000 investors in the next round.
Tom replied on the forum detailing why it would likely be impractical as it would be hugely expensive to administer, they would need to build a platform in house to handle such a big crowd fund and they would need to produce a prospectus, all while they have so much on their plate, and then Stefan from Passion Capital created a forum account to add that he thinks it would be a good idea to do this, although maybe 100k was not the right number.
Then in Dec 2018 they built their own crowd funding functionality in app, created a prospectus and got 36000 new investors.
