Interestingly, when you click on the Monzo app in the Apple wallet flow, it brings up Monzo artwork and then confirms via Face ID.

They absolutely do allow it. I just tried.

Yes. So I can add my new non-activated joint card via the iOS 17 flow but not in the Monzo app.

But, I can also add any activated card to my Apple Wallet via the Monzo TestFlight build.

Aren’t credit scores reported based on individual?

So if you have to have a personal account to have joint, it’d be reported on there, no?

Maybe it’s how they’ve set it up to “derisk” the challenges of join account ownership. I don’t actually know how it works at legacy banks but the fintech’s appear to take a different approach.

You can close your personal account at Starling and your joint account remains open.

Not sure what would happen if I did close it, I asked the question when I kept having fraud declines on my personal.

Maybe a glitch somewhere. We opened it since moving to this address so it’s not like they can’t report it incorrectly either.

Joint ( 2 x individual scores)

This is for Monzo and others to keep it on thread, be interesting to see how Monzo do it

This is my take too, though I’m not 100% if Monzo do another soft search on joint opened (happy to be corrected), as they’ve already done the search and the risk profile is probs already on the system.

Never been involved in risk, maybe someone will come shed some light.

My wife had the same issue but I managed to add my card to Google pay on my Android before it has arrived

Hi,
I’ve had a joint account for awhile. I was wondering if any point the option to add another wage coming in to the upcoming incoming transaction will appear. It’s rather annoying that every month I get told I will run out of money cause it doesn’t recognise another wage coming in. Also the new updated version of the app doesn’t allow for the date to be customised. It’s stuck at the last day of each month… not helpful. Thanks

Well, family worldwide travel insurance that includes at least some common existing conditions (as per the recent discussion here where Monzo seems to have changed to a provider that doesn’t cover any of these), family mobile phone insurance (I would expect this if Premium were applied to a joint account anyway), UK and European breakdown cover including all options (like home start, nationwide onward travel etc), at a comparable price to FlexPlus, and most important, the ability to access any of these by phone where you can easily talk to a human person who will deal with the query or claim quickly and efficiently.

Having used Nationwide in this respect more than once, this makes such a difference, that knowing Monzo’s ineptitude when it comes to chat support, I wouldn’t buy Premium even if it did include all those covers, if the only way to access them was via chat.

Not sure I follow. If you look at the new claim process you have both phone access and online via the app (it goes to the insurer)

I’ve got the same.

Trying to use the ‘Add to Apple Pay’ button in the Monzo app brings up this screen:

Going into the Wallet app however gives me this option:

From there I’m able to successfully add the card to Apple Pay even though it’s not arrived yet.

The next step, adding the card to my watch fails because the CVV is required and I don’t have it yet.

The card still shows as not being activated in the Monzo app. Not really sure what happens at this point if I try to use the card via Apple Pay. Will it just fail?

This is all on public versions of the app and iOS.

That’s very good to know. But you should mention it as a selling point in your website and marketing, as I cannot see any information about how to access insurance claims/queries other than a mention of chat support on the Premium webpage.

It will definitely make a difference, especially to those who know about Monzo chat support (plus I think in the new travel insurance thread it was mentioned insurance support is accessed via chat, no mention of telephone, but I may be mistaken).

Hah, that is an amazing edge-case. I hope they help you out with it, there are a lot of non-standard payment cadences that could do with addressing.

Cards arrived, activated and added to Apple Pay.

We’re so happy you were excited by our update and that you looove the new joint account card :sparkles:

We just wanted to confirm that anyone who applied for a joint account after my initial post will get the new pearlescent white card in the post and excited to hear they are starting to arrive too :clap:

Plus you should be able to add your new white joint account card in your Apple/Google Wallet, even before your physical card arrives. (We saw there are some issues with some of you trying to do this, I have shared with the card team to explore and will let you know the outcome :soon:).

As there has been so much hype around the card (and as a thank you for all your valuable feedback) we want to offer the new card design to any members who are existing joint account customers! :tada:

If you want to replace your existing joint account card, fill out your details here before 5pm on Friday 14th July. We will get this sent out to you ASAP after Friday 14th July. The person you share your joint account with can also fill out this form if they want to get their hands on the snazzy new card. If you go through this process we will make sure you won’t be charged any fees.

As always we are keeping a close eye on your comments and feedback. As mentioned in my initial post, we will be back over the coming months to update you on our progress.
