Using Monzo in the US

Hi all!

I know this has likely been asked a thousand times, but are there any issues using Monzo in the USA?

Was wondering if the exchange rate differs from day to day etc or if you get a set rate once you use it?

I plan on signing up for Max too, so wondering if that affects anything as well.

Any help is much appreciated!

It has been asked quite a few times… but no issues that I’ve ever experienced.
I’ve had to enable magstripe for certain establishments which don’t do contactless / PIN but it has still worked OK

Exchange rate - ONLY ever choose to pay in the local currency (USD in the US) and you’ll get the best rate. There is no ‘set rate from when you use it’ - it is dynamic and changes with the daily exchange rate changes.

Max gives you the Travel Insurance, discounted airport lounge access and fee-free cash withdrawals (up to £600 every 30 days)

That’s all great thanks, just what I wanted to hear. It’s going to save a lot of fuss moving things around and exchanging money.

I take it Monzo can access all US ATMs with no issues if I do need to withdraw cash?

Almost all as some are Visa only. Most will charge for withdrawals so might be worth getting Chase as they don’t charge in their own ATMs (which they have lots of in America).
