Today we’re launching Monzo Investments 🎉

Problem with ESG in general… It’s BS

But Monzo makes statements about being ethical and net zero and working towards that goal, and then partners with a company that is the opposite of that very statement.

To play devils advocate I really don’t know what Monzo could’ve done here. Launch its own in house investment? Risky and they probably don’t have the capital.

Partner with an “ethical” investor - well how do you define what that is. I don’t think any (except Tridos?) truly are.

Exactly. Some people are never happy.

So go somewhere else then? ESG in itself is a bit of a misnomer… I mean arms companies are not allowed in an ESG portfolio but without arms manufacturers then Ukraine would be wiped off the map by now… I buy global all-world portfolios, as ESG as a concept itself I don’t agree with… Same with oil - we need oil right now to keep our economy going as we transition so I’d rather buy from BP than Aramco or Putin’s Russia

Where are the key investor documents?
I cant find them.

I don’t have the option to join the waitlist? I can see the investment page though.

Very well put. Pretty much mirrors my views at the moment.

What are the fund names (or ISINs)?

It’s not a case of being constantly unhappy but I am about a few recent decisions made by Monzo as they have struck me as being at odds with their image, their stated aim and my perception having been a customer of theirs since before they were actually even a bank.

I’m sure you can appreciate that the forum is not just for people that blindy agree with everything that Monzo do, it’s the benefit of having a forum is to provide feedback.

I have looked up the funds mentioned above, if these are the funds Monzo are using they are new funds, as in inception date March 2022. I usually like to see a funds performance over a number of years, I ain’t ruling out using these funds, just will research a bit more. Glad to see Monzo offering investing, becoming the complete package for me.

That graph gives the “possible range” - is anything outside of that impossible? :face_with_monocle:

Given that investments can fall, and you can get back less than what you put in, activity outside that range is certainly possible imo.

I have no particular views for/against Blackrock as choice of provider, but I do think its a good decision to launch with a selection of global multi-asset funds. This probably attracts the widest range of potential customers.

However, which specific Blackrock funds are you actually offering?
I can’t find any mention of this on the webpage or in the app.

This is a bit of a pet-peeve of mine but I find it annoying that Monzo tends to hide key/detailed documentation from customers until they enter the sign-up flow (this extends to other Monzo products too). At other financial institutions the norm is to make such documentation accessible on product pages before going through sign-up flow. Please switch to this approach.

Making the ISA flexible is probably the most appealing aspect of this product at launch. Although its easy to find cash ISAs and innovative finance ISAs with flexible ISA terms, this is not at all common amongst stocks and shares ISAs.
