I learnt if I wanted to buy something on impulse, sleep on it a few days and see if I still want it. Turns out I never do.
Unless you’re in Dreams looking at new beds - they banned me after one night.
Take a hard look at your spending and be honest about what’s genuinely essential - then be prepared to cut back.
For example, do you really need Sky TV, or could you manage without it for a year by reading more, watching Freeview, going for walks or spending more time with friends? Do you need to buy new clothes every month, or can you make what you already own last a little longer? And yes, I’m about to suggest cutting out starbucks coffee everyday too ![]()

It’s usually about making temporary adjustments to small, non-essential expenses. Those savings add up much faster than most people expect.
