I suppose if you have an iPhone then you have definitely either spent £700 odd on it or are on an expensive contract.
I wouldn’t call the latest Samsung, Sony or LG phones cheap, but it makes sense overall as I guess as there are cheap Android devices around. Still no less disappointing.
I assume the current account will have the same (or similar) budgeting tools to those found on the prepaid card. If we join now, will we get our historical spending history from the prepaid cards available in current account or will everything start afresh as it is currently a separate app?
Initially users will have access to two accounts, both the prepaid and the current account as separate apps. The prepaid will have all historical data and the current account will start afresh. Eventually we’ll look at how to combine the two, but we haven’t nailed down exactly how we plan to do this yet
Fantastic, thanks for confirming @anon50039658 ! (Not that I’ll wait around for that ;)) Can’t wait to jump onto the current account bandwagon as soon as the Android version hits
Yeaaaaaaaaah! This is soo exciting! Thank you so much to the Monzo team for all their hard work I cannot wait to see what the accounts will look like. This is beyond exciting
I’ll be able to use webhooks with a UK current account, WOW! I really can’t wait. It’s a race between Monzo to provide current accounts and Starling to provide personal webhooks. I do prefer the additional data + hashtags + emoji from Monzo though… I’m generally using my card in preference to cards from Starling, Revolut, Loot
Things that make me sad:
Wasn’t selected as an investor in March. Investors get perks, while it seems other loyal customers who pledged do not. Of course if I was selected I wouldn’t be sad, but this makes me doubly sad. I’m an android user and would have to wait anyway.
If you pre-registered to invest in the last round but weren’t successful, as promised you will also get early access to the current account. That will mean you are in the first group of people to receive a card and current account once we start rolling out en-masse!
But investors do get more perks because, well, they’re investors. But it sounds like you understand
