The Great Permacrises

Yeah actually I think I seem to remember seeing that too. Fingers crossed for both of us! My start date is 1st October all being well.

I assume if you login and see the text against the electric and gas it’ll have the following

We’re officially your energy supplier from 1st October

I took a reading on both yesterday and submitted to the Sainsbury’s account just in case.

Luckily I got screengrabs and PDFs of my Green account the day before it shut. I actually also made sure my balance was at £0 exactly so no issue in switching and I should only get a bill from the usage from the 20th to yesterday.

DD cancelled so green don’t take the £145 on the 1st

I have downloaded my bills and screenshot readings dally while I still can. Unfortunately I have a credit of about £200 quid which I know will take a while to get to me. But it is what it is. I’ve cancelled my DD also.

Yeah I normally keep a small credit but after being dicked around by Green for the past couple of months I was going anyway.

Did they mess with your DDs too?

Luckily I didn’t move back to People’s Energy the other day. I don’t know why I didn’t go through with it but kinda lucky as it went bust hours later

Yes! From March they doubled my direct debit when at the time I was only carrying a small debit balance as my payments balanced out into Spring. I didnt mind too much because I knew I would build a nice credit and get a refund when I switched. I’ve read reviews from others suggesting they did this across the board to boost their cash balance. Had I have known that I would have raised a compalint with Ofgem.

I had mine at £95 and was in Oak fixed with a constant usage and out of the blue had a gocardless email saying my DD had been cancelled and they wanted £180 a month.

I made a case on the Ombudsman Services with both that they shouldn’t be making changes without any prior communication and that they need to be able to justify the increase when challenged (which they couldn’t).

They then failed to update to a new amount their side (they had two weeks) and £180 was still debited.

Ombudsman upheld my complaint and gave £100 for the inconvenience. Green then challenged the decision and failed.

Literally a month later they tried again to £206 a month! They then changed it back after I said I’ll take them to the ombudsman again.

I should add it’s almost a hobby taking energy providers to ombudsman at this point.

I think it was four or five times I took Outfox the Market and upheld every time. They should have gone bust years ago.

They did so many shady things.

I still remember them reinstating my DD mandate after I had left in credit to grab cash as a quick loan from ex-customers. Not once but three times they tried it on.

They somehow kept their license :man_facepalming:

I am in similar situation as others. I switched to Sainsbury from Green last week. Based on MSE the switch should go through if you started before they went bust.

If you are in the process of switching, your switch will still go through

If you’ve already started to switch away from either Avro Energy or Green, you will continue to be moved to the new supplier you have chosen. You should not need to do anything. Your direct debit to your current supplier should be cancelled automatically, but check anyway, and if not, cancel it manually after your switch completes. Any outstanding credit will be paid to you by the supplier Ofgem appoints - see above for more.

If you’re in the process of switching to Avro Energy or Green, the switch should go through as planned, although you will then be automatically switched to the new supplier Ofgem appoints.

Can’t get the bills to download. Just get a screen with a script message in it :man_shrugging:

I noticed that the site was up but very flaky this morning

This is why I switched to Go which has been a lot cheaper but it seems from Twitter that the Go prices for new subscribers have gone up substantially too.

I just about got the current, pre-raise, pricing on Go by a hair’s width… (Post# 73)

yep, I’m in the same boat - was hoping to get a screenshot of account balance, but I guess they have taken the backend offline
Although looking now I can’t login at all - I get an error saying CSRF token mismatch

moved to E.ON from Green a few weeks ago. Just got a text to get the smart meter installed in Mid Oct.

I got the Green desktop working just now too :+1:

The great petrol crisis might be next

Working from home means that I thankfully use much less fuel so I should be ok :relieved:

Apart from the fact that I might struggle to mow my lawn. But any excuse not to do that is good enough for me
