Exactly. The daily Mail and the Sun are right behind this ‘tax bonfire’ just like they are behind anything that benefits their owners. They’ll also gain far more donations which will help their election campaign

I agree, but they didn’t and the measures today make it even easier for these sort of things to continue.

The idea that reducing tax for the rich will mean that this money will instead be re-invested into the economy and as a result everyone get’s a benefit is about as realistic as installing communism and expecting everyone to play nice

  perfect way to describe it

what do you think the rich do with their money ?

i cant lie, i know you’re probably just trying to debate the case which is fine but you really do sound like someone who this tax cut is going to benefit lmfao.

They save it. Brutal as it sounds the wealthy won’t make a dent on the economy with spare spending. The poor/middle tend to spend any extra they get over saving and boost the economy.

even if i was a top earner, i would not look at this country and think “ooo that looks like a great investment oppurtunity”

They save it. They buy gold, they buy property to be let out, they buy into investment funds (only a small percentage of which will be U.K. shares).

Give someone on a basic wage a bit of money and they likely go and spend it immediately and locally. Give a rich person money and it likely dissapears from the economy.

That’s the basic problem with inequality and the hugely flawed trickle down economic theory (quite aside from any moral implications of some people being richer than others etc)

maybe so …if I was “rich” on 200k a year - Im not Im retired … would I eat out or always eat at home , would I buy a new car every other year because I dont want to be faffed with MOTs …hmm would I go on holiday every other month, new kitchen ? new sofas , new carpets … dunno

Too few people to make a dent. It’s the lower end that spends over saving. Give everyone on low income an extra £1000 and it all will go into the economy.

yes but thats their thinking isn’t it ?

It’s close to a childish interpretation of what will bring bankers to the U.K.

The city needs economic stability and access to foreign markets to function, neither of which they can provide. ‘You can pay yourself bigger bonuses’ completely trivialises the issues U.K. banking faces

wooo thats 27Bn which funds the NHS for almost 147 days

They’ve just spent like 5* that on the tax cuts.

I didn’t propose doing it…. I said as an example giving the poor end cash ends up being spent over saved unlike the wealthy tax break they are doing…
