It works with github, that’s what I use
Then Starling hates me.
It is still a pain, and when I changed phone recently I spent ages trying to work out which account I had been forced to set up just to log in to this community and what password I used with it. I think I’ll go out for a celebratory drink when they finally scrap this awful sign up method and allow me to sign up with email and password!
To be fair I’ve had an issue once on the desktop. Clicked github and it did nothing. I don’t like it and would rather sign up with email. Surely it is default discourse functionality
Edit: is that the discourse app? Have you tried in plain old safari?
It is, and I have. Desktop in Chrome, phone in Chrome and Safari. Can’t be bothered to keep trying. It’s not exactly a hive of activity but there’s the odd thing worth reading.
It has become a lot more active during the last two months though.
Strange. I don’t use the discourse app, but just for you I downloaded it and it lets me in. Doesn’t help your situation though
Honestly, there are very few things on the Starling forum that isn’t discussed here.
In fact, the Monzo forum is turning into a jack of all trades place (good and bad).
But as far as finance discussion goes, this place beats Starling all day long.
Out of interest - Do other people use the Discourse app? I’ve always been using the website (on Mac and iOS).
The Discourse app is nice for getting notified about watched threads (instead of receiving many emails).
Funnily enough, I installed it, and this was the first notification I received!
It seems nice, bit of a hassle to swap between that and safari though.
I’ll keep it for the notification if nothing else.
Same issue with me, it happens if you changed your Github account’s email address or deleted and re-created a GH account with the same email. You can get your account back by logging in with a different social account associated with the same email as your previous Github account.
Oh dear. Sounds like Starling are catching up with the legacy banks in terms of customer focus. Time to vote with your feet?
melodramatic much?
Good job Monzo haven’t had any issues with their service in the past (bugs, ApplePay, policy change etc).
But no, not being able to sign up to the forum (although I agree the sign up process is rubbish) means you should leave the bank…
To be fair, bugs will exist as long as humans write software. We’re inherently imperfect.
Depends why you’ve made the effort to swap from the high street to Starling, I guess.
Signed up to Starling. First impressions I like the way “Pay” tab is setup. “Spending” is cool except “Merchants” is weird because it includes my transfer in.
That’s as far as I’ve got so far as I’m still waiting for the card. Monzo was super impressive at sending out the card and getting setup. The other strange thing is they sent me the welcome email 2 days after the text message.
I find the app crashes on boot and I have to open it a few times before it opens. App also feels sluggish at times, Monzo feels quicker and lighter.
Looking forward to getting the card so I can try other aspects.
Deja vu, anyone?
There go those free atm withdrawals
I’m kidding!!!
So much for highlighting that theres no waiting list .
Hopefully they turn into loyal customers
@simonb have you seen a spike in signups this evening? Monzo also had a shoutout although I think starling was their top pick because there’s no abroad ATM limit. This weeks episode was about spending abroad.
It was also mentioned here if anyone’s interested: Live Current Account Rollout Counter
At least any waiting list is first come first served and not one where people can push in front of the queue with a special ticket
