Your command is my wish
I imagine it must have been criteria-based, as I know @Johnn has other fancy cards. Seeing as RBS still lets customers in England apply online, I would be surprised if they were all assigned a Drummonds sort code and especially got the card design, seeing as it’s been particularly elusive in the past.
I used the old form to get a regular beach hut account, and selected my branch as Mayfair (because why not). They’re still in the system, so I would have thought a regular customer would either get one of those, or a Scottish sort code.
Only way to test is for someone to apply for a regular RBS account (who definitely won’t meet the Drummonds criteria) and see what account they get.
@Johnn I wouldn’t bother asking RBS to change it, the account is exactly the same.
And, technically, Drummonds ‘outranks’ Premier.
This is/was a quirk in RBS’s online application process.
When you apply online with RBS, you are asked which branch you wish your account to be based at. You could select any UK RBS branch.
I currently hold a Child&Co card as I choose its Fleet Street branch as my home branch when I applied 6 years ago. I am guessing that is what @Johnn did. As there are no English branches spred out, he chose one a London sort code which happened to be Drummands.
Digital Saver now up to 6.17% AER
I have called them and talked to them saying why, even they don’t know why I have been signed to Drummonds, I have requested to change my account I want normal RBS card, they said I have to close the account and reopen again, it’s crazy
What do you think, should I just keep this account, the sort code is 160038
Keep it. It’s pretty rare, and quite exclusive. And it’s just a regular RBS account under the hood anyway.
Thanks A LOT
I’ve decided to keep it.
Thanks everyone for helping me.
And I did replace debit card also, Still Drummonds ![]()
Thanks you Andrew San ![]()
I see RBS have a switch offer, what’s their app like? Does it have push notifications, easy to use? Thanks in advance ![]()
Agree their app is one of the best.
The NatWest varient does and they’re pretty good, I would think the same for RBS
Yes, not sure to what extent, though. It used to be debit card transactions only but I received a notification when I made a faster payment from RBS to Starling earlier today.
They are silent notifications, though, so not much use if you want to know exactly when some expected money hits your account.
Applied for a Child & Co. account and I must say, that old application form was a really nice journey back into less chaotic times. You could almost forget the state of the world for a few minutes!
How can I apply for normal rbs account that system will not assign me to Drummonds sort code?
The card a bit ugly haha
If you’re really bothered by it, call Drummonds and asked to be moved to a regular sort code.
