Natwest Chat ♻️

They’ve invested hugely in their digital team since Alison Rose became CEO, proper transformation stuff, very focused on how they can monetise their APIs, and huge advocates (like miles ahead of the other established banks) on Open Banking.

Always impressed when I hear from NatWest people

I like NatWest and they are one of the banks I use daily. They’ve certainly improved their app and web banking experience.

I just wish if they’re going to pour this money into the platform they should address some of the core issues they have with setup.

For example many banks now give you forward warning and awareness of future direct debits or standing orders.

Direct debits don’t appear until the first day they’re coming out.

They don’t appear to have a running total for the current day. I suspect this is because they resolve everything overnight in batch.

You don’t appear to be able to amend standing orders for the first 24 hours after setting them up.

The NatWest app looks fairly good with the exception of the transaction page. I still am too used to Monzo and don’t like ALL CAPITAL with names like TVLICMPB or LONBNEWHM.

This is also a niche thing but I can’t get my mind to like having cancelled DD’s on the page cluttering it up. They never seem to go. I like how Monzo just gets rid of them once you cancel them. Clean and clear.

I’ve just switched to NatWest for the switching offer, I have my mortgage with them and used to have an account, so the process was pretty easy.

I had an email today saying my new account is ready and I have a letter in my inbox, but I can’t see the account in the app yet - only my mortgage!

Yeah they take the entire app down between about 1:00 and 2:30 or something every night. Most changes won’t show up until that’s done.

Honestly NatWest have been an excellent bank to be with. They were the first legacy bank that I felt they had come far enough to switch into from Monzo :eyes:

If they did half decent instant access savings and did some more work on their transaction screen then goodbye HSBC and all other banks for that matter.

I think you can delete them or they go eventually. it might be something you have to do in the web banking rather than via the app.

The transaction / budgeting part of their app has improved. It lists transactions from their current accounts and credit cards collectively.

I 100% agree with you. It would also be nice for NatWest to show upcoming DDs the day before or a couple days before like Monzo and Starling, alongside incoming BACS

I asked and they said they stay :disappointed:

Ok but that’s not the experience I’ve had. When I first opened my NatWest account all my bills went through it.

I have over the years manually switched banks and none of the direct debits on NatWest remained in the list, cancelled or otherwise.

The only ones I can see now are those I’ve recently setup.

You don’t have cancelled DD’s? Anything I’ve ever cancelled in NatWest is listed:

(Annoyingly some have personal stuff so had to hide a couple)

But actually this shows also what I just don’t like - I don’t want all capitals and I want it to be smart enough to turn H3G into “Three”.

Your only fans contributions are safe with us

But yes. Agree on the H3G thing, revolut can’t change their DD formats but can if you pay by card.

I only wish people wanted to pay me for that

Looks great!

Still doesnt have the time of the transaction… I noticed it with RBS as well, really really wish it told you all the details.

Oh Nice! I sort of wish I was still using NatWest with features such as this. They’re coming along nicely I think.

EDIT: Even better they’re using the Apple Maps API not the Google one.
