Nationwide Chat

Replying to own post - asked in chat and they seemed to think I would be entitled to the 5%. Which is useful.

I opened a FlexAccount this morning online.

It gave me the account number & sort code at the end of the application process, however, it’s still not showing up in the app.

The customer number in the confirmation email matches the one I’m logged in with in the app. I wonder how long it’ll take to show up

Usually within a couple of days

Ah, okay!

It’s weird because when I’ve opened savings accounts and credit cards with them before, they’ve shown in the app immediately.

Savings accounts are indeed more or less instant. Not so much the credit card as you can’t use it until it turns up in the post unless they’ve changed that recently.

What Nationwide are working on to bring to their mobile banking app in the future:

They also recently fed back about the top features requested from their online community - paying in cheque was on there as well as being able to adjust font size.

I see there’s no mention of them showing payment references in the app, nor displaying the other person’s name on payments between different Nationwide accounts.

Also, notifications for suspicious activity but not for anything else

“We’ll also send you account or payment updates, as well as other useful info”

Oh yes I misread that.

It’s finished :tada:

I wonder if Virgin Money clients will eventually be able to use Nationwide branches (if not for regular banking operations as the 2 businesses continue to trade separately, at least for admin purpose like proof of identification, query blocked/frozen account, etc…) ? As Virgin closed down all their physical branches in the South/South East last year.

I’m wondering how long it will be before Nationwide enable cash deposits in the post office. You can already withdraw, so might be just a matter of switching it on.

Wasn’t the takeover to happen early in 2025? Or maybe I’m thinking Coventry/CoOp.

Gives the impression that they’re hitting the ground running so changes could be happening sooner rather than later.

Wonder if they’ll try Virgin’s original idea of CASSing all the accounts across? That could make for a very quick merger of accounts.

From this page:

Very strange. I’m a customer of both and I haven’t received a text message.

I’m feeling left out too :frowning:

So I guess if Nationwide customers cannot use VM branches (as per this message, directed to Nationwide customers), the reverse must also be true, that VM customers (bereft of branches in the South) are not welcome to use Nationwide branches in the foreseeable future.

For a good while I expect. To get an idea of how it might happen in due course, what happened with the CoOp and Britannia was that the Britannia people moved into the CoOp branches. That could really only happen where branches were reasonably close presumably.
