Got my CASS successful text this afternoon, and sure enough £200 had already been paid by the time I opened the app to check ![]()
What direct debits did you set up?
Wanted to do the same switch, set up PayPal and Moneybox direct debits, but not sure if a collection needs to happen first?
Oh, great! I will try that
My CASS is underway but I haven’t received my pin, card, online pin, account number or sort code yet! I am guessing it’s more on Royal Mail than Nationwide.
Finally got into the app and after ticking the box on sign up stating I didn’t want their instant access savings account - guess what, there was an instant access account starting me in the face below my flex direct account. Why have a tick box asking if you want one or not and just giving it to you anyway? So had to go on my laptop to close that down as it doesn’t allow it through the app. Once I logged in on the computer the layout and boxes just gave me a headache and you can’t even deposit a cheque if I were to get one via cheque imaging. So I closed the flex direct account hahaha no nationwide for me lol
I think we get the picture that you don’t like Nationwide.
The website banking is somewhat dated, I have heard rumours that they’re planning an update next year. Not having a website banking feature that you actually could use was one of the issues I have with Monzo. Starlings is good but you’re still tied to having a phone to complete transactions.
The fact that you close accounts without having to phone someone is useful. HSBC I had to phone and they royally stuffed it up. NatWest is an online form and you have to remember the sort code and account numbers.
Few high street banks and building societies are quite as advanced as Monzo, Starling or the other neo fintech companies.
It makes a big difference where the high street banks have to make the websites/apps to work with their dated systems from the 90’s/2000’s whereas the fintech’s have the opportunity to build their systems to 2020s standard from scratch.
I would agree, but I think you’ll find some banking systems go much further back than the 90s. A lot of the older systems are batch based which presents challenges in today’s environment where so much is real time. However some banks are better at hiding this than others.
Also remember that most high street banks will have a much larger and diverse range of customers to design websites/apps for. I do think that sometimes is forgotten.
I have a few friends who find Monzo “too much” as an app, so simplicity works for them. Accessibility is important and a lot of those needing assistance will be with high street banks.
Logo still not updated for me on Apple Pay despite having the new card, wonder if everyone is experiencing the same thing
On my android phone they’ve updated but my older apple phone they’re still the old logos. I’m sure they will correct in time.
Apple Pay logos take an age to update. Probably forgotten about, give them a nudge via socials.
New flexdirect card, weird I replaced my credit card at the same time but I received the old design again
Their website states they won’t be available until some time in November.
Damm well that explains it
Hmm - For the last 2 weeks I’ve been trying to open a Nationwide Account and do a switch and every time I get a ’ We’re really sorry, something went wrong. We couldn’t continue with your application as there was a technical issue. Please try again."
This is at different times of the day, on different computers (work vs home), different browsers (Chrome vs Edge).
Anyone else having issues?
I did used to have a Nationwide account a long time ago (think I closed it when Monzo joined CASS) so maybe its that - although the T+C’s for the Switch offer does state that you’re only NOT eligible if you’ve received a previous Switch award since 2021…
What bank are you switching from? As that probably plays part. Someone said Starling is being rejected.
How long before you get the £200 eligibility text?
Switch completed 23rd and had nothing
