As soon as they introduce virtual cards pay from pots and add to Google/Apple pay boom youve got kids accounts as a part of plus. Pretty sure that’d be preferable these days for kids rather than carrying around a card aswell.
I winder if there would also need to be terms and conditions changes to legitimise letting someone’s kids use their account? I have no clue but I’d guess it’s probably not strictly allowed as standard.
I doubt Midland ever made any money off me!
They used to come into school on a Wednesday lunchtime (I was a school banker ) and open accounts up for kids. You got a free football, and loads of vouchers. Most of the school opened an account for the free football and never used the account. You even got a passbook!
Later they actually gave you a cash card and in an effort to save money they stopped the staff member coming into school and it was run just by us students. We switched the day to a Friday because we figured more students would deposit as they might have a few pence left over from their weekly dinner money. I could have been the next Tom Blom!!
Two related and somewhat funny stories. I was trusted (at age 14!) with depositing the money bag into that weird drop box on the outside of the bank. One night the bag got stuck and we had to call the police!
Another time I’d dropped the bag off with my best mate and we decided to have a cheeky cig in the doorway and leant on the door. I promptly fell into the bank as whoever had locked up hadn’t actually locked the front door. That was another call to the police because the alarm didn’t go off and we figured they probably wouldn’t want to leave the bank unlocked over the weekend!
Haha I remember them doing this when I was at school - I’d totally forgotten about this until just now
