I think it’s more likely to enable them for newer users and remove as a user gets more confident with the app
More toggles @Peter_G!
My war on unnecessary togglage will have to wait another day!
But, to be fair, this seems like a useful thing to have. Maybe a discreet option on the revised budgeting page (when it comes)? I think I’d prefer a tap on the widget thing, though, cycling between balance, just left to spend, and the hybrid that we have at the moment!
Exactly this. I think it’s been mentioned before in the new nav thread that this sort of thing would happen.
I think when you know what the buttons do, you don’t need the labels anymore. It’s like getting used to the new home button action… At first it’s a little flash by comparison to other apps and feels like you’re waiting for ages to get to your joint account (I have quite a few pots) but in reality it’s one tap of the screen compared to multiple actions to change accounts in all my other Banking apps.
Am a proper convert now

I cleared out both cache and storage to try out the SCA stuff as if it was a new device
After entering my email and clicking the magic link I had to enter my card PIN
All very quick and slick. Nice one
Missed that first read through
Interesting. I cannot remember whether there was such an ability with Intercom. Anyone else?
Hello all,
For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Emma, an Android Engineer at Monzo - I’ve been here a while now, since before Android v1.0 - it’ll be 3 years for me next week .
Just wanted to give a heads up on a new app version which is winging its way to the beta channel now.
In the sprit of full transparency, we have added a root detection warning to 2.64.0
. If we detect that your device is rooted, we’ll show you a one off informational screen to let you know. We’re doing this to let users know of the risks of having a rooted device, incase they’re unaware.
We’ve decided to do it as a warning only because we appreciate we have users who prefer to use a rooted device. It’s also worth noting, we’re aware this check will not be 100% reliable. By definition, a rooted user can do what they like: including try to pretend that they’re not rooted.
We’ll be rolling this out gradually from a server side feature flag, so you may not see it immediately .
Here’s what it will look like if we do detect that you’re rooted:
Oooh - what other shinies are in 2.64.0?
(I’m not rooted. Honest)
Yay, a bank that doesn’t outright block rooted devices
I mean, there isn’t much point in blocking rooted devices, what with Magisk Hide.
Thanks for the heads up!
This sounds like a commonsense approach, rather than the pointless cat and mouse approach other banks often take.
Is there any risk of this appearing on a non-rooted device? Just concerned that a someone who isn’t tech savvy seeing that could get pretty freaked out by the wording lol.
Could you go into more detail about how you’re doing the detection?
That’s has to be the best pic of hot chip ever
I can picture Hot Chip with a demi-wave and a blue rinse.
Not being picky but Hot Chip needs a wig shop in that case, not the hairdresser
