This is actually great.

Really useful for me as it will mean i can add amex spend to tabs easier.

I was never going to pay for extra to just have this so keeps me content to feel like im getting more functionality at least for using monzo as my primary account

Nice, just need at least one virtual card on the free plan and it would cover pretty much all my needs

Same here

This is one half of exactly what Monzo should be doing.

The first half is to mainstream in the free product old and previously innovative stuff. This is a good signal of that

The second half is to innovate and come up with new stuff that can either be pay-walled or push Monzo further ahead of the competition. This we’re waiting to see…

Details button has now changed to Manage.

More importantly, you can now let Monzo use connected accounts to support lending decisions (it’s off by default, don’t worry  )

I guess the upside is if you have an additional income paid into another account (or are just paid into another bank in general), this can help with Flex, loans, and overdrafts. Kind of like how Yonder can use open banking to help with deciding your credit limit I guess.

I’ve connected my Amex to Monzo. I have a supplementary card on the same account and can see all that spend in my Monzo feed. It would be good if I could filter this out or by supplementary card.

The majority of Monzo users are paid into other banks.

Allowing this (good catch btw) allows Monzo to see their income and outgoings from their main banks or salary accounts/bacs payments inbound to make more refined decisions.

This has been the case for ages. When I applied for Flex in 2023 I wasn’t using Monzo as my main account but it used my connected HSBC account (and said it was doing so).

Just had a look and I’m seeing the same.

Maybe they announced it to Extra subscribers but haven’t yet released it.

Added my Barclays account, one less reason to open that app now.

Might also help get a higher Flex limit as my salary is paid in to there.

Does Starling pull in spaces etc for open banking? You’d only be able to add the main account not the rest.

This is an Amex limitation, not Monzo - likewise as a supplementary cardholder I can see only my transactions and not the main cardholder’s, and can only see my own balance for the card, and not the total amount.

I believe you can connect all your accounts free in the Zopa app though it’s a bit lean looking. Furthermore, Zopa show Monzo but you can’t connect Zopa within Monzo using Extra.

The issue with Starling is that they don’t offer granular control of the account types to expose - if you have an Easy Saver, Euro account etc. it’s all treated as one entity on their end. Starling need to fix their open banking implementation to allow you to only expose the account types you want.

You literally do get separation when linking to Monzo via open banking. Not for your normal spaces, but for all these you get separation!

Oh what does yours show? Could it be because you also have the joint account

iOS and android disparity?

As @Morgoth says, the option to select isn’t available for me (on iOS) so must be an Android/iOS difference. I’d contact Starling’s support but I’m only using Monzo for Flex these days so don’t care that much.

Anyone else being having problems with V rgin credit card connection over the past week? It’s been up and down like the proverbial insert-banned-word-here’s drawers.

Is it just me or anyone else experienced constant “V rgin is experiencing problems” or being told to renew access every day or two?
