Instant regret for being transparent about why I flagged something

Okay everyone. I think this topic has gone as far as it sensibly should.

Everyone step away from the keyboard and come back when calmer heads have prevailed.

I assumed all this time this was regarding your personal Monzo account? How is that impacting your business, considering the business should have its own account, be that with Monzo or another bank?

If I was in their shoes I’d similarly be pissed at having zero notice. For a bank that prides itself on being inclusive and progressive it’s a kick in the balls.

A case of vote with your wallet and CASS away.

Neither my personal or business Monzo account will allow deposits.
Monzo chat agents don’t see the notification either, so it’s up to me to send a screen shot to them, as from their side it looks like it’s the customer who didn’t enter the pin to confirm the transaction.

Utter omnishambles.

Wow! What a monster thread this has become

Just something that those looking for alternatives to Monzo may find useful. Lessons learnt and while things are looking good at Revolut I have also been looking for a back-up option. I enquired at Starling if they allowed payments to Binance so that I don’t open an account with them for nothing and their reply was:

Our personal account customers can buy and sell cryptocurrencies by bank transfer in GBP, or using their debit card. As with all payments, if we need any more information from you regarding any payments like this, we’ll request this from you in-app. We do not support the purchase of crypto by bank transfer in other currencies, or the use of our business accounts for cryptocurrency trading.

An answer in a kind of a roundabout way as I asked about Binance specifically so will have to test it. Waiting for the plastic now, as they don’t seem to have a virtual card option.

The Topic will remain closed for now as the high number of flags have triggered the automatic closure. I’ll be going through them and responding to the flags as well as messaging those involved.

I’ve been through and reviewed the flags and responded to the people who’ve contacted me about this discussion.

The topic of the discussion is that we’ve stopped payments to Binance following a consumer warning from the FCA. You’re of course able to discuss this decision, and I’ll be sure to pass on any feedback that comes out of it to our teams here as always.

But direct attacks against each other don’t fall within our Code of Conduct, so please refrain from resorting to this.

There was a mysterious feature-flag enabled sometime after v4.9.0 was posted and I couldn’t figure out what it could be. I’ve just had a :bulb: moment - the b is for Binance:

<boolean name="b_is_blocked" value="true" />

Sesame Street has been updated then

People who are now stumbling across this seem intent of reading through this thread which is a few days old and clicking flag against my posts.

Flag, click. Next post, flag click. Next post flag, click.

I keep getting notifications and then staff putting them back.

Why do people do this

Please PM if you want to chat or add your view below, just don’t use the flag as I disagree, or I don’t like this guy let’s silence him.

Good luck with that. You are clearly not part of this trigger happy club. The hypocrisy in this ‘community’ is stunning. Look at their own highly ‘liked’ (guess by who) comments: “crypto shills”, “it’s a cult”, rolling eyes emojis also seem popular (what’s the point of that?) and so on and later they openly flag posts they don’t like saying that the content “wasn’t friendly” and citing community guidelines… It’s a funny place.

Crypto shills, like you, are a cult.

But I haven’t flagged anything.
