Can anyone correct me on something I am finding about Moneybox?
I have a Cash ISA with them. I don’t want to set up a direct debit for a weekly amount as i would rather monthly, considering I change the amount relatively often. I also don’t want to have to remember to send the money every month, as that’s definitely not going to happen.
So I use the Payday boost which is a monthly thing to deposit the money. However I’ve set it up for 1st of the month after my payday, but it’s often taken around the 11th to 16th. This has happened quite a few times now. I spoke to Moneybox about it, and they said it will happen on whatever Wednesday is after that date I’ve set. But that maths doesn’t add up, but whatever.
However I don’t understand why they can’t just do monthly direct debits like everyone else? Or am I missing a trick here? When I asked about putting it in monthly on the same date (dependant on Bank Holidays of course) the rep didn’t seem to offer any other ways to do it.
Their whole mantra is that weekly savings allows for better planning, as its four smaller payments in rather than one larger one, so if you need to for whatever move your money around, it better allows you to do that.
You can just set up the payments to go out weekly at a set amount and if you need to change it, then change it within the app before the next week goes out - not ideal I know
Payday deposits are “collected” on a Wednesday, and then the DD taken from your current account on the following Monday after that.
I have accounts with them, but no longer use their savings account, as only one withdrawal a month allowed, and the ISA is the maximum for this tax year.
You’re better choosing the 25th or so and it’ll come out sooner in the following month in most instances. There’s a risk it might not though if they change something.
They’ve announced today that their funds will no longer be deposited solely with Santander International, they will be divided between providers.
Sounds similar make up to Trading212.
“With effect from 11th February 2025, the money in your Simple Saver will no longer be deposited only with Santander Financial Services plc (trading as Santander International) and will be changed to be deposited with a panel of third party banks. This change has no impact on your current interest rate. Please read the following information carefully.”
