Mondo rival: Revolut announce crowdfunding round

@anon53050409 and @anon50039658, thank you very much! I reckon I’ll stick with Mondo, as the difference is so small and I’ll be able to see all my transactions in one place, which for me is kind of the whole point of using Mondo. Thanks for your explanations!

Revolut’s latest update (which adds a lot to the transaction list, e.g. a map of where the transaction occurred, the ability to add notes and photograph receipts etc) goes some way to bringing their product closer to Mondo’s. I appreciate that the multi-currency wallet functionality of Revolut is potentially niche, and that Mondo remains alone in terms of their approach to API’s etc, but as a frequent visitor to Europe I would love to be able to maintain a Euro balance within Mondo in addition to the day-to-day GBP balance.

Did you get many contacts? I’d like to invest too, so happy to do a contact swap…

Totally agree with this last statement: it really is something I wish Mondo would offer.

Hi all, I’m looking to invest and also quite happy to send my details over a PM. Send me a message and I’ll send you my number. I have a few people who are also interested.

I agree multiple currencies would be good. Yes, you can convert as needed, but it’s not ideal, most people want certainty. For example, my family are off on holiday to Europe soon, but they made sure to buy the euros they need before the Brexit referendum as they knew there was a risk the pound would bomb. For people who live abroad a large proportion of the time, travel a lot or have friends to transfer/receive foreign currencies with regularly enough that they don’t want to convert it would also be good.

Revolut isn’t a mondo rival I believe. They work on interbank exchange rates and don’t offer benefits for using it just as a bank account.

Such as the £500 withdrawal limit then a 2% charge.

The only other bank I know who are a competitor to mondo is atom bank.

I have used Mondo and Revolut for a few months now. Mondo has a nicer interface, branding etc , but Revolut has more useful :bulb:functionalities so far.:disappointed_relieved:

The main one being able to top up funds from my GBP account in the UK to my EUR bank account in France at absolutely no cost. No need to use Transferwise (which charges you a fee, even though smaller than any regular bank), nor XendPay (you give what you want - so let’s be honest I give nothing). XendPay is not a mobile only provider, and their platform is not convenient to use. With Revolut, its is so fast and simple! Having the ability to transfer funds from an account to another, in a different currency is a big advantage that Revolut has, even though most people might not have that need.

With Revolut you can top up your account with multiple cards, and can even add the card automatically using contactless (you place your card at the back of your phone and the card details are added automatically). I also like that fact that you can see whom of your contacts has a Revolut card to send them money. I know this has been discussed here in the past, as it may cause some privacy issues etc, but let’s be honest it is easier to know who has a revolut card or not.

I currently have too many cards and it would be great to have 1 supplier which would provide me with everything that I need.:stuck_out_tongue:

They add 0,5% on weekend to the market closing rate. So while transparent, on weekends you’re better of with a card that uses the Mastercard or sometime VISA reference rate.
